Grassroots Lifesaving Outreach (LESGO) is an impartial, neutral and independent Non-Governmental Organization whose mission exclusively established to promote life in underserved communities through empowering communities to know and protect lives including their environment towards ensuring safe habitation through participatory methodology. Established in Grassroots Lifesaving Outreach was established in 2010 but was incorporated in the year 2011 with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). LESGO exists to partner with government and relevant agencies to promote and strengthen humanitarian law and a universal principle that seeks to honor the dignity of mankind with support and believe that Life is worth living and living well.

Job Title: Human Resource Assistant
Location: Madagali / Yola South, Adamawa
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • We are looking for a skilled HR Assistant support the HR Officer in the discharge of duties, the ideal candidate will support, and develop talent through developing policies and managing procedures.
  • He or She will be responsible for administrative tasks and contribute to making LESGO a better place to work.
  • The goal will be to provide excellent assistance and support to employees and managers, support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems, deal with staff welfare and administration-centered activities, provide counseling on policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.
  • Maintain digital and electronic records of employees.
  • Serve as point of contact with vendors and administrators.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, performing reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
  • Coordinate training sessions and seminars.
  • Perform orientations and update records of new staff.
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.
  • Process payroll and resolve any payroll errors.
  • Complete termination paperwork and exit interviews.
  • Maintain calendars of the HR management team.
  • Oversee the completion of compensation and benefit documentation.
  • Assist with performance management procedures.
  • Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events and maintain agendas.
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Communication, or a related field.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience as an HR Assistant
  • Exposure to labor law and employment equity regulations.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools.
  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective HR administration and people management skills.
  • Exposure to payroll practices.
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Travel:

  • The successful candidate will be willing to travel to field locations in the Northeast based on program needs.
  • This will mean sometimes staying and working in stressful environments with very basic living conditions, strictly following security protocols, and sometimes working long and irregular hours.
