Job Title: Health Safety & Security Officer

Location: Ewekoro, Ogun
Function: Quality & Operational Development

Report to: The Agreement Manager

Responsibilities
What will you be doing?

  • Ensure plant compliance with legal obligations related to Health and Safety regulations by implementing QHSE policy, organization, and procedures.
  • Support the Plant Health & Safety Committee, Customer Safety Manager etc. in taking ownership of QHSE Management Plan and appointing staff for carrying out QHSE functions.
  • Authorize work permits after ensuring clearance for hazardous work, electrical isolations etc.
  • Raise and follow up till closure of all site work permits and ensure Health and safety is properly considered for all activities.
  • Ensure that firefighting arrangements are properly maintained and that all planned, and Emergency fire drills are carried out at plant and in agreed frequency.
  • Prepare and coordinate internal QHSE audits at the plant and give prompt feedback to management team.
  • Manage site Environmental team and ensure all areas are properly maintained at all times.
  • Develop site Annual QHSE Management program
  • Prepare site HIRAC, Evacuation and safety contingency plans according to Wartsila QHSE global policies.
  • Ensure 100% compliance to LOTOTO and risk assessment on site.
  • Receive and investigate reports of accidents, dangerous occurrences, and fire damage, determine causes for occurrence and recommend preventive actions. Maintain a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences.
  • Identify the training needs and conduct QHSE related trainings at the plant and follow up with QHSE growth plan of entire team.
  • Ensure periodic QHSE site visits and report all Hazards via the WeCare Portal.

Requirements
You will shine in this role when you have:

  • B.Eng / B.Sc./ HND in any Engineering discipline or Social Sciences.
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in QHSE (Experience in Power Plant Facility is as added advantage).
  • Safety Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OHSAS and other related safety trainings etc is an added advantage.
