Job Title: Fleet Supervisor (Technical)

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Ensure maintenance jobs are done with high standards. Institute measures to reduce return jobs.
  • Providing guidance to drivers on vehicle usage and ensuring that they are aware of safety and compliance regulations.
  • Handling of all documents containing sensitive information with care and confidentiality.
  • Support investigations of accidents and incidents involving fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of fleet tools e.g., diagnostic machine, battery charger etc.
  • Coordinate vehicle scrap disposal – tyres, vehicle parts, batteries etc.
  • Develop and implement vehicle spot-check plan.
  • Participate in fleet Audit.
  • Ensure that all vehicles comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Establish and maintain vehicle operating and maintenance cost records, and evaluate information for the purpose of vehicle disposal and replacement.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and training programs to minimize accidents and ensure the well-being of vehicle users.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, including vehicle maintenance service providers, and vehicle OEM to ensure that the organization receives quality services and products at competitive prices.                                      
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance vendors demonstrate continuous improvement in their processes.
  • Oversee, support and provide leadership to direct reports.

Requirements

  • A HND or BSc. degree in mechanical engineering or relevant fields.
  • At least 5 years post NYSC work experience in a similar role.
  • Must possess a valid driver license.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrate strong safety awareness and integrity.
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing and intranet tools (MS Office Word, Excel, Lists, SharePoint etc.)
  • Demonstrated leadership capability.
  • Good problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines, determine priorities.
  • Fleet related certifications/trainings will be an added advantage.
  • Must possess excellent understanding vehicle parts, expected lifecycle and should be able distinguish genuine from counterfeit parts.
  • Must be able to carry out preliminary vehicle diagnostics and understand fault codes.
  • Good knowledge of telematics systems, and other technology tools used to monitor and manage vehicles.
  • Good understanding of federal, state, and local regulations governing vehicle operations and safety.
