Job Title: Finance Officer

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a skilled and proactive Finance Officer to join our finance team in Kaduna. If you’re detail-oriented, experienced in finance management within a microcredit or microfinance environment, and have strong technical skills, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Responsibilities

  • As a Finance Officer at NEAT Microcredit, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the financial health of the organization. Your key responsibilities will include:

General Ledger and Transaction Posting:

  • Manage daily postings to the General Ledger in QuickBooks Enterprise, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare financial reports and summaries for management, highlighting insights and recommendations.
  • Track key financial metrics for NEAT Microcredit’s 12 branches and provide analysis for informed decision-making.

Excel Proficiency for Financial Analysis:

  • Use advanced Excel functions for data analysis, budgeting, and reporting to ensure efficient handling of large data sets.

Bank Reconciliation and Cash Management:

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Manage cash flow and maintain accurate records of deposits, transfers, and withdrawals.

Statutory Deductions and Compliance:

  • Ensure timely and accurate calculation and remittance of statutory deductions, such as PAYE, Pension, and other relevant deductions.
  • Maintain compliance with local financial regulations and tax laws.

Accounts Receivable and Payable Management:

  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable and payable ledgers, ensuring timely disbursements and collections.
  • Assist in managing customer and vendor accounts, including posting payments and expenses.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • At least 2 - 3 years of experience in a finance role, preferably in a microcredit or microfinance institution.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis).
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise and solid experience with General Ledger posting.
  • Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and statutory deductions.
