Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF) is an innovative platform for resource mobilization. Primarily established to supplement efforts to mitigate the adverse economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on Nigerians by supporting vulnerable members of the population, strengthening the country’s healthcare system and reskilling the Nigerian workforce for a post-pandemic world.

The Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund is led by a team of Nigerians - working tirelessly to help bring a better life to all Nigerians. Together, with dedicated stakeholders, multilateral organisations, grassroots NGOs and local partner organizations, we are raising funds and initiating interventions to ensure that our children, families and vulnerable groups across Nigeria recover from the devastating impact of COVID-19.

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Finance Manager will provide overall leadership for efficient and effective operations of the organization in the following areas.
  • S/he will ensure the effective coordination and integration of finance and grants to deliver timely, effective, and high-quality programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops the annual budget with inputs from departmental heads.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the bookkeeping function, including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Play an active role in business development initiatives, including but not limited to prospecting for new clients, building relationships with existing and new clients, attending industry functions to understand industry trends, etc.
  • Treasury management (Payables/Receivables management & Working capital Management)
  • General oversight of basic HR & Admin functions on an ad hoc basis.
  • Responsible for ensuring the company is up to date with its statutory filings and payments e.g. FIRS, WHT, VAT, etc.
  • Develop and continuously improve the company’s accounting policies, procedures, manuals, key performance indicators, etc.
  • Support the finance team in treasury functions, financial modeling, and other accounting advisory matters.
  • Approves all vouchers, invoices and cheques, transfers, and other forms of payments.
  • Ensures all contracts and expenses are in line with budget and awarded at competitive rates.
  • Responsible for financial reconciliations and reports.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting system.
  • Reviews the monthly payroll prepared to ensure that the amount to be paid corresponds to the terms of the employee’s contract. Also, ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop, maintain, analyze budgets, and prepare periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Support auditors to ensure financial audits are completed.
  • Maintain financial records for each project in a manner that facilitates management reports
  • Ensure that accurate and timely records are prepared and presented to management on request
  • Any other task assigned.

Qualification, Skills and Experience
Required:

  • A First Degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience providing a whole range of financial services in an organization at the management level, ideally with at least 2 years in an NGO.
  • Good report writing skills and ability to develop effective work plans and manage time and priorities to meet set objectives.
  • Proficiency in using relevant applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other relevant applications.
  • Proven proactive skills in identifying cost savings, cost avoidance, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in a style that inspires confidence and builds credibility with staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent writing and speaking in the English language.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Nigeria’s tax and finance environment.
  • Familiarity with donor-funded grants management
  • Other relevant professional certifications in Accounting (ICAN, ACCA, ACA)

Desired:

  • Track record of high resilience under pressure and ability to support and motivate teams in these situations.
  • Good political acumen and excellent team building and interpersonal skills
  • A Master’s Degree in Accounting
