Finance and Accountancy Manager at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)


Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid in more than 60 countries to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters or exclusion from healthcare.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:

 

 

Job Title: Finance and Accountancy Manager

Location: Abuja
Contract Period: Six Months
Possibility of Extension: Yes
Contract: 208 Working Hours per month

Main Purpose

  • Coordinate and supervise the accounting of the Mission (accounting, treasury, audit procedures, etc.) according to the instructions of the Finance Coordinator, and in compliance with legal obligations and MSF standards and protocols in order to provide quality, reliable and transparent information to the organization on the use and allocation of resources in the mission.

Job Description

  • Provide quality and timely accounting for the whole mission while ensuring strict respect of deadlines and compliance to MSF guidelines, financial standards and procedures.
  • Prepare and coordinate the conduct of local audits relating to accounting, tax, labor, stock and asset management
  • Plan and supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility
  • Act as technical referent for any accounting-related issue including compliance with MSF financial standards and procedures, legal compliance, training and support on the MSF accounting software / system
  • Coordinate and oversee the monthly and yearly closing of accounts and balance sheet
  • Take responsibility for the financial management of donor contracts and ensure reporting conditions are met and stakeholders fully informed of their responsibilities
  • When required, prepare, coordinate, review and oversee the payment of all type of tax liabilities, employees’ pensions and any potential legal & tax mission liability for the mission
  • When required, brief all staff involved on specific accountancy management.

Requirements
Education:

  • Essential solid accountancy training and experience-professional Accounting qualification.
  • Desirable: University Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. (ICAN Certificate a Plus)

Experience:

  • Essential 4 years previous experience in similar relevant position jobs. In OCBA, essential 2 years of previous experience is similar relevant positions.

Language:

  • English mandatory and Hausa desirable.

Knowledge:

  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel, internet)
  • Local accounting standards, Desirable MSF accounting software, ERP system knowledge, local laws.

Remuneration
As per the MSF salary scale (National contract).
