Job Summary
- The Field Installation Support Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring, and providing technical support for our products and systems at client sites.
- This role will require strong technical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to ensure smooth, on-time installations and post-installation support.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of field installation engineers, ensuring that installations are executed efficiently and professionally.
- Provide on-site and remote support to clients, ensuring the correct installation and configuration of systems or equipment.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee field installation schedules, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, teams to ensure customer requirements are met and issues are proactively addressed.
- Conduct training sessions for subordinates to ensure they have the technical knowledge and customer service skills required for success.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing updates and status reports throughout the installation process.
- Ensure that all installations meet quality standards and align with safety regulations, industry best practices, and company policies.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex issues, effectively diagnosing and resolving technical problems in the field.
Professional Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in a field installation or support engineering role
- Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to think critically under pressure
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal teams
- Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and evolving work environment.
Knowledge and Skill Required:
- Good knowledge of electrical mast installations
- Rigging experience is compulsory
- Experience working on instrumentation or communication gadgets, offshore electrical equipment, etc.
- This position requires on-site fieldwork at various client locations
- Ability to travel to remote / offshore to supervise/support installations
- Flexibility to work weekends and extra-hours during critical installation periods.
- Field installation experience at Telecommunication companies is an added advantage
- Previous experience at Shell Nigeria is an advantage
- Project management experience.
- Certifications in relevant technologies or systems
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
