Role
- The role requires strong commercial knowledge and experience in the financial, payment services or remittance space.
- The role will act as an advisor for product development and commercial business teams by partnering with the specialists to deliver on commercial objectives and strategy.
- The ideal candidate is passionate about the financial inclusion, building inclusive and sustainable products, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. Day-to-day work will include contract drafting and negotiation, regulatory and compliance assessments, and risk analysis.
- This Full-time Role Will Report Into The Senior Counsel In The Transfer Solutions Legal Team Based In Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts (including non-standard or complex commercial and technology agreements) to support the growth of Cross-Border Services business.
- Assist the Product and Sales Teams in managing and mitigating legal and commercial risks and, in general, support the business in its commercial and strategic role.
- Work cross-functionally across product and legal teams (including data privacy, intellectual property, antitrust, regulatory and compliance) to advise holistically on product constructs and commercial agreements to ensure that they are consistent with corporate strategy, internal policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
- Support special projects while continuing to handle a steady stream of day-to-day matters.
- Identifying needed process improvements and efficiencies to increase ease of doing business, including development and maintenance of templates.
- Conduct training of global Law Department policies such as contract policy training.
- Managing external counsel within budget.
All About You
- You must have a Law Degree (LL.B) or equivalent and qualified to practice law and in good standing in one or more jurisdiction (s). May have a Master's Degree in law, tech or similar.
- Experience in legal practice in fields drawn from regulation, technology, corporate, and commercial and familiarity and experience with laws and regulations in the banking, payments and remittance space will be considered favorably.
- Complex transactional legal experience and supporting product teams at a reputable law firm or as an in-house counsel.
- Thorough, meticulous and attention to detail but nevertheless able to prioritize, focus on the important rather than just urgent matters and get the job done.
- Experience in navigating multinational organizations and operating effectively within a diverse multicultural organization.
- Keen business insight and strong communication skills to interact confidently and effectively with internal clients, Mastercard customers and law and policy colleagues, including senior management.
- Strong drafting and negotiating skills with the ability to understand and simplify complex concepts, issues and deal structures.
- Ability to operate in an agile and less than full information environment and ability to make quick but calculated decisions while managing risk effectively.
- A team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, good commercial judgment, creative approach to problem-solving, pragmatic, solutions-oriented, business minded, nimble, and have a “let’s make it happen” attitude with the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced sales environment.
