The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

Duties

  • The position is located in the Financial Management Center, American Embassy Abuja and reports to the Financial Management Officer.
  • The Class B Cashier is to provide cashiering services to the Mission community. The cashier supports 13 sub-cashiers and is authorized to provide support to 28 ICASS agencies including USDHs, LES and TDYers utilizing USD and Naira. Cash advance is $135,000 USD.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education Requirements:

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics is required.

Experience:

  • At least four (4) years of progressively responsible work in technical accounting or bookkeeping with at least two years performing cashiering work is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Must possess good working knowledge of local banking practices and procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, ability to articulate complex issues and recommend appropriate solutions, ability to effectively utilize computer and financial software, excellent customer service skills, ability to delegate effectively. 
  • Keyboard and typing skills are required where accuracy is required but speed is not important. 
  • Numerical skills for calculations and confirming financial transactions is required.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Outlook, word excel and proprietary software is required.

Evaluations:

  • This may be tested. Please specify your level of proficiency in the language listed.

Language: 

  • Fluency in speaking / reading / writing English language is required.

Marketing Statement:

Remuneration

  • N11,190,898 (USD45,290) Annually.

Agency Benefits:

  • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Abuja, Nigeria may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
  • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
