We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Assistant Accounting Officer

Location: Lagos
Grade Level: Support Staff

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate shall report directly to the Assistant Director Finance & Administration (ADFA) of the Lagos, West Africa Regional Office and responsible for maintaining cedant account records and reconciling those on a regular basis.

Duties / Job Details
The main duties of the Assistant Accounting Officer shall comprise, amongst others, the following:

  • Carryingout daily cash allocation of receipts and payments
  • Reconciliation of cedant/broker accounts for the regional office
  • Providing technical accounting support to the underwriting team in the maintenance, processing and reconciliation of cedant/broker accounts
  • Engaging in collection of account balances due to the Corporation
  • Reconciliation of retrocessionaires accounts
  • Raising and posting of Journals arising from the reconciliation process
  • Cash matching of receipts and payments with related reinsurance debtor transactions for assigned cedants
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the ADFA
  • Attend to any other duties as may be assigned by Supervisors and the Corporation’s Management from time to time.

Qualifications and Professional Experience
Applicants shall be holders of:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or First University Degree or equivalent in a relevant field plus a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Relevant working exposure in a multicultural environment will be an added advantage.
  • Relevant Professional qualifications will be added advantage
  • Relevant work experience in a Technical Accounts department of a Reinsurance Company or an Insurance Company is a must;
  • Relevant Professional Accounting Qualifications is required

Additional:

  • Able to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English Language
  • Working knowledge of French Language will be an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of integrated business-related and accounting softwares will be an added advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage, prioritize and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Problem solving skills with capacity for taking initiatives.
  • Reliable, Flexible, creative, with good reasoning and ability to multitask.
  • Good knowledge of Oracle tools.
  • Integrity and sense of responsibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Insurance/Reinsurance environment.
