The PIC is the first national institutionalized behavioural initiative in Africa supporting government and stakeholders to make behaviorally informed decisions and generate evidence for impact driven interventions in critical thematic areas (Governance, Health, Gender & Social Inclusion, Education, Digital & Financial Inclusion). Job Description
- A proactive and committed advocacy/ strategic communications officer is needed to support the Edo digital policy project.
- The incumbent will develop and implement communication strategies; create content, and manage media relations, and all social media engagements.
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies, coordinate policy advocacy to relevant stakeholders, and promote and support the dissemination of the developed policies to relevant stakeholders, including government officials, civil society groups, media, and the public.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the design of a comprehensive Communications Strategy including strategies for internal and external communications, social media engagement, and production of communication assets.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and alliances with public and private stakeholders, CSOs, Tech hubs etc.
- Utilize innovative approaches to create interesting and educational content, including blog, videos, infographics, presentations, and updates on social media, to effectively communicate policies to a wide range of audiences.
- Work with the research and monitoring teams to develop activities with strategic communication components.
- Create and implement a communication strategy to efficiently inform diverse audiences, such as the general public, the media, decision-makers, and pertinent organizations, about digital policies.
- Support the development of human interest stories for vulnerable groups and digitally excluded populations to highlight the need for gender and inclusion in the policy formulation process.
- Track and analyze the impact of advocacy and communication efforts on the dissemination, acceptance, and use of digital policy.
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by your supervisor
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, or a related discipline
- 3-5 years of documented experience in communication, or public relations, preferably in the digital space.
- Familiarity with content and creation management systems/tools, social media platforms, and digital strategies.
- Strong photography skills will be an asset.
- The capacity to multitask well in a fast-paced collaborative workplace and think strategically.
- Interpersonal qualities that are strong and the capacity to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to track, gauge, and assess the results of advocacy efforts.
- Good time management and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent writing and vocal communication skills, with the capacity to create messages that are compelling to a variety of audiences.
- Experience in collaboration, partnership development, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in media relations, including organization of interviews, preparation of press releases, and media pitching.
- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency
- Ability to extract, analyze and visualize data to develop communications and information material. Sound understanding of the application innovative digital communications platforms.
