Job Title: Accountant

Location: Bank's Headquarters, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and skilled Accountant to join our team at Sterling Asset Management and Trustees Limited (SAMTL)
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and examining financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the bank's financial integrity and contributing to its growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Statement Preparation:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Auditing:

  • Assist internal and external auditors with audit requests and provide necessary documentation.

Financial Analysis:

  • Perform financial analysis and provide insights to support business decisions.

Accounting Standards:

  • Stay up-to-date with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and implement changes as necessary.

Account Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including financial reporting, taxation, and internal controls.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, and analyze financial performance against targets.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the banking industry.

Certifications:

  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
