16^x - 5 x 4^x + 4 = 0

(4^x)² - 5(4^x) + 4 = 0

let 4^x = y

y² - 5y + 4 = 0

(y - 4)(y - 1) = 0

y = 4 or 1

4^x = 4

x = 1

4^x = 1

i.e. 4^x = 4^o, x = 0

∴ x = 1 or 0
