Medical Illustrator Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of a Medical Illustrator:

  • Degree or diploma in clinical photography, graphic design/illustration, medical illustration, photography.
  • Considerable knowledge of artistic media applicable to the illustration of scientific subjects.
  • Considerable knowledge of anatomy pathology and surgery and the major branches of medicine sciences.
  • Ability to plan, create, and design attractive medical art work visuals.
  • Ability to portray accurately and in detail medical subjects for display or reproduction.
