Under the strategic guidance of the Chief Field Services and in close coordination with the Representative, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating Nigeria Country Office’s Partnerships strategy including resource mobilization, Child Rights and Business, and leveraging, including all forms of engagement with the private sector. The post holder will ensure effectiveness of and compliance with UNICEF local, regional and global resource mobilization priorities.
In addition, as the most senior person in the Lagos Field Office (the Country Office being based in Abuja), the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of management of the UNICEF Field Office, covering Lagos State. A small office with approximately 10 staff. He/she will provide leadership and supervision to generate, foster and maintain high morale and team work, sound management-staff relations, and ensure general staff welfare and security. This post is office-based, with occasional travel within and outside the country.
Summary of key responsibilities:
- In close consultation with the Country Management Team, develops a comprehensive Partnerships strategy in support of UNICEF’s priorities at the national level. Designs a coherent action plan for each component of the strategy, including target setting, prospect pipeline, investment cases, cultivation and solicitation, and partnership management.
- Develops and cultivates partnerships with corporations, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs), foundations and other key stakeholders for resource mobilization.
- Develops and oversees the Partnership section’s work plan to ensure that objectives and targets are achieved and reports on effectiveness of actions to maximize results.
- Conducts risk analysis to inform decision making on investments, partnerships and efficiency of the entire operation.
- Closely coordinates the sections work plan and strategy with the Communication and Programme sections to contribute to the achievement of overall Country Programme objectives and in accordance to priorities for UNICEF private fundraising and partnerships at the regional and global level. Ensures efficient and effective management of human and financial resources allocated to the section. Oversees budget implementation. Approves disbursement of funds ensuring proper utilization and accountability in compliance with existing rules and regulations.
- Leads non-fundraising engagement with the business sector to positively change business behaviour and practices as they affect children.
- As team leader for the Lagos Field Office, establishes programme work plan, monitors compliance and provides training, support and guidance to the programme team.
- Coordinates high level engagement with key partners from the private sectors (and with the public sector where there is direct connection to drive public private partnerships), to mobilize and influence cooperation with UNICEF to accelerate the achievement of results for children.
- In collaboration with the communication section, publicly positions UNICEF’s brand to generate a strong positive image of UNICEF, to maximise support for the organization, and inspire partnership.
