Job Brief

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced structural engineer to join our team and take charge of overseeing our construction projects.
  • Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and strength of the structures we build.
  • In this role, you will divide your time between our office, where you will be involved in designing and planning project details, and the construction site, where you will provide technical guidance to construction workers.
  • To excel in this position, you must possess hands-on experience with various construction methods and materials, as well as advanced proficiency in AutoCAD. Strong project management and analytical skills are also crucial for success.
  • As a structural engineer, you will play a key role in the entire construction process, from initial design to final implementation.
  • Your expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in delivering high-quality and structurally sound buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design structures, such as buildings, roads or bridges
  • Providing technical advice
  • Obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval
  • Liaising with relevant professional staff such as architects
  • Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors.
  • Supervising Projects.
  • Inspecting properties to check conditions/foundations.
  • Collaborate with contractors and project managers.
  • Create structural models by using computer-aided design software.
  • Measure loads and pressures caused by environmental or human influence.
  • Follow construction safety guidelines and best practice.
  • Choose appropriate materials based on structural specifications.
  • Monitor on-site construction processes and supervise construction workers.
  • Prepare and allocate budgets.
  • Track and report on project progress.
  • Preparing reports, designs and drawings
  • Selecting appropriate construction materials

Requirements and skills

  • Degree in Structural Engineering; a Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Member of the COREN
  • Data-driven mindset with excellent mathematical skills
  • Good communication ability (both written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail.
  • 5 - 8 years relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience as a Structural Engineer or similar field
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methods and regulations
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD
