Description
- This position is responsible for planning, establishing, implementing and maintaining a variety of Safety, Health, Environment and sustainability programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees as well as promoting continual improvement of SHE through transfer of leading practices and visible leadership of SHE initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the Sub-Sahara Africa SHE Manager to develop, objectives, policies and procedures on SHE management and coordinate its implementation including the seven life saving rules.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, WI/SOP and procedures in the plant and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
- Support the SSA SHE Manager to monitor, revise and implement ongoing updates in Safety Regulations, laws or reporting requirements.
- Support the SSA SHE Manager to coordinate required improvement actions to achieve FOQUS SHE standards.
- Identify SHE trends and indicators and give recommendation for improvement in the plant.
- Support the SSA SHE Manager to ensure strict compliance to ATEX standards.
- Support the SSA SHE Manager to develop the SHE Management system to meet the requirements of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and FoQus SHE.
- Support the SSA SHE Manager to coordinate risk assessment and environmental impact assessment and develop controls for identified hazards and put a programme in place to mitigate high risk identified and domesticate the process in the plant.
- Monitor all plant activities to ensure a hitch free operations.
- Ensure proper project execution in the plant taking into consideration project MOC, project risk assessment and project work method statement.
- Coordinates the plant SHE activities (machine safety audit, plant team safety round, and maintenance/statutory inspection of critical equipment and ensure standards are follow.
- Ensure the statutory inspections of all the racks, forklifts and other lifting equipment in the plant.
- Support the SSA SHE Manager to ensure effective communication to boost safety culture and by identifying relevant training needs.
- Identify possible emergency situation in the plant and put programme in place to mitigate them.
- Support in the conduction of monthly drill to prepare the business in case of emergency (Fire, Flood, Ammonia and Gas).
- Ensuring bi-annual maintenance of firefighting equipment is carried out in the plant.
- Support the SSA SHE Manager to prepare the business for external audit (ISO, Fire, ONE AUDIT).
- Work with Company SHE and Sustainability manager (SSA) on sustainability agenda.
- Liaise with Continuous Improvement team (AM) to drive improvement in waste reduction through effective AM activities.
- Carryout machine safety assessment on all the machines and develop action to close unsafe gap identified.
- Ensure the implementation of LOTOTO on all high risk machines and equipment in the plants.
Requirements
Educational Qualification and Experience:
- Candidates should possess a minimum of Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in SHE
Licenses and Certifications:
- At least 1 Safety, Health and Environment Professional Certification.
