Job Description

• We are looking for an experienced Senior API Developer with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience to join our fully remote team.
• In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance APIs that support scalable applications.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the APIs are efficient, secure, and meet the business requirements for integrations and data exchange.

Responsibilities
API Design & Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and other web services.
• Ensure that APIs are efficient, scalable, and easy to consume by external and internal stakeholders.
• Develop API documentation, providing clear usage instructions and examples.

Integration & Optimization:

• Integrate APIs with third-party services, databases, and other backend systems.
• Optimize API performance by applying best practices for data handling, response time, and resource utilization.
• Implement version control strategies for APIs to ensure backwards compatibility.

Security & Authentication:

• Implement security best practices for API development, including authentication (OAuth, JWT, etc.), encryption, and rate limiting.
• Ensure APIs are secure and compliant with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).

Collaboration & Mentorship:

• Collaborate with frontend developers, backend developers, and product teams to design APIs that meet the functional and business requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior API developers, helping them grow their skills.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, security, and consistency across the API codebase.

Testing & Monitoring:

• Write unit, integration, and load tests to ensure the reliability and performance of APIs.
• Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track API usage, performance, and errors.
• Respond to and resolve issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in API development and integration.
• Continuously improve the API design and implementation based on user feedback and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in API development.
• Strong proficiency in designing and developing RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints.
• Experience with backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, or PHP.
• Experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and how they integrate with APIs.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge of API security best practices and rate limiting strategies.
• Proficiency in API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger, Postman, OpenAPI).
• Solid understanding of authentication protocols such as OAuth, JWT, and API keys.

Skills:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for hosting and managing APIs.
• Experience in building and managing APIs for mobile applications.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
• Knowledge of API testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Postman, JMeter.
• Familiarity with API gateways, microservices, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.

Salary
N700,000 / Month.
