Job Title: Assistant Security Manager

Job Summary

  • Assist the Security Manager in the effective management and operation of physical security systems at APMT Onne. Responsibilities include safeguarding assets, personnel, and operations through strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of security measures. Additionally, execute the APMM Global Security Framework and the Port Facility Security Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with APMT ISPS security standards within the terminal.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of physical security systems, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Conduct regular physical security system audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
  • Proactively identify, respond to, and resolve significant security incidents and risk concerns.
  • Implement APMT Security Duty of Care risk mitigation measures to ensure no harm within the terminal.
  • Serve as the Terminal Deputy Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) in accordance with ISPS legislation if needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Security Manager in implementing a robust physical security systems and risk management program.
  • Ensure compliance with the APMM Global Security Framework, ISPS Code, and APMT Ways of Working, while upholding all relevant standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • This role involves building strong, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including terminal personnel and local law enforcement.

APMT Security Processes:

  • Provide a safe and secure operating environment for APMT staff.
  • Maintain operational command of the security team, coordinating terminal security operations to proactively identify threats and provide timely, accurate reporting.
  • Manage and coordinate all communications and access control requirements, including activation of security response mechanisms to support business continuity.
  • Serve as the Terminal Deputy Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) in accordance with ISPS legislation, performing PFSO responsibilities and maintaining Terminal ISPS accreditation.
  • Develop, oversee, and implement orders, ensuring that security plans are communicated, executed, and tested regularly.
  • Implement and monitor APMT’s security processes to protect the terminal’s infrastructure and assets.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of security technologies and best practices to enhance the facility’s security posture.
  • Ensure all security systems are functioning optimally, conducting regular testing and drills.
  • Maintain thorough awareness of local security standards, company security policies, and procedures, staying informed about community security issues.
  • Proactively maintain and improve security management competencies in consultation with the Security Manager.
  • Ensure all incident reports are completed and delivered promptly.
  • Assist the Security Manager in conducting internal investigations.
  • Manage the schedules of security personnel, track attendance, and ensure effective and courteous service delivery, addressing all non-conformities.
  • Deputize for the Security Manager as required.

Managing Stakeholders:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including management, employees, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure cohesive security operations.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on security protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Foster strong relationships with local law enforcement and security agencies.

Who Are We Looking For

  • Accredited professional certification in Security Management or Risk Management with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in physical security management, preferably in a port or terminal environment.
  • In-Depth knowledge of Security Surveillance and Access Control Systems.
  • ISPS – PFSO knowledge or qualification.
  • Relevant experience with public law enforcement and/or intelligence services is an advantage.
  • High degree of self-motivation, positive attitude, and drive, with the ability to contribute to a team-based, multicultural work environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development within Security/Risk Management.
  • Highest level of integrity, tact, and discretion, with the ability to solve practical problems quickly and efficiently in high-stress situations.
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective oral and written briefs and presentations.
  • Proven experience in supervising Physical Protection Systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of control room operations, including the operation and monitoring of surveillance, access management, and alarm systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and Power BI.
  • Proficient in Data Analysis and Presentation.
  • Membership of Professional Security or Risk Management Associations is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of investigative procedures.
