Job Title: Sales Associate

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • The Sales Team plays a critical role in driving growth and expanding the clientele by promoting SAMTL Fund Managers' products and services to institutional and retail clients.
  • Team members will focus on identifying, understanding, developing, and managing clients’ relationships, understanding clients' needs, and offering appropriate fund solutions that align with their investment goals.

Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and execute effective sales strategies in alignment with the overall business objectives of SAMTL Fund Managers.
  • Identify and prioritise target markets, focusing on high-potential segments such as institutional investors, high-net-worth individuals, pension funds, insurance companies, and retail clients.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to support campaigns and product promotion.

Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:

  • Actively engage with prospective clients to present fund products, address inquiries, and build relationships.
  • Conduct need-based analysis to understand the investment goals of clients and recommend suitable fund options.
  • Manage client relationships by providing continuous updates, insights, and performance reports.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with existing clients to ensure high satisfaction levels and generate new business.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to understand market trends, the competitive landscape, and client preferences.
  • Provide feedback on clients’ needs and market trends to help the product team develop relevant investment solutions.
  • Analyse sales data and prepare reports on sales performance, client feedback, and potential areas for improvement.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Adhere to regulatory and internal compliance standards, ensuring all sales activities are in line with industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.

Sales Reporting and KPI Tracking:

  • Report periodic sales updates and present them to management.
  • Regularly update systems with clients’ interactions, sales pipeline, and follow-up activities.
  • Track individual and team sales KPIs, ensuring targets are met and strategies are adjusted as needed to optimize performance.

Product Knowledge and Development:

  • Stay up-to-date with the fund managers’ offerings, including mutual funds, alternative investments, and other fund management products.
  • Educate clients on fund options, investment strategies, and product features to help them make informed decisions.
  • Work closely with the product development team to provide input on new fund launches or updates to existing funds.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background: A good Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum grade of second class.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in sales or client-facing roles within a bank, asset management, financial services, or related industries.
  • Product Knowledge: Good understanding of investment products, financial markets, and fund structures.
  • Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the fund management industry, including AML/KYC standards.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills. A team player who collaborates efficiently.
  • Goal Orientation and Result-Driven Mindset: Ability to set and achieve sales targets, with a focus on results and continuous improvement. Resilient in a competitive industry with persistence to pursue and close deals.
  • Sales and Relationship Skills: Proven ability to build strong client relationships, communicate investment strategies clearly, and deliver a high level of client service.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret market data and financial information, with an understanding of sales analytics and KPI tracking.
