Job Title: Registered Nurse / Midwife

Job Summary

  • We are currently recruiting for the role of a Nurse Midwife. The Registered Nurse Midwife would be involved in monitoring the fetus during labor.
  • Providing information, emotional support and reassurance to women and their partners.

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Examining and monitoring pregnant women.
  • Providing information, emotional support and reassurance to women and their partners.
  • Recording the vital signs (temperature, pulse respiration) and keeping accurate records of the observations made.
  • Caring for and assisting women in labor.
  • Provide follow-up care for mom and baby after delivery, including advice on issues such as breastfeeding
  • Provides direct prenatal, intra-partum, postpartum and/or well women patient services and primary care
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Monitoring and administering medication, injections and intravenous infusions during labor.
  • Monitoring the fetus during labor.
  • Advising about and supporting parents in the daily care of their newborn babies.
  • Helping parents to cope with miscarriage, termination, stillbirth and neonatal death.
  • Providing primary and specialty health care for women, including conducting Physical exams and diagnosing, treating, and managing medical conditions.
  • Counseling and educating patients.
  • Providing newborn care for the first 28 days.
  • Providing support through peri-menopause and menopause.
  • Providing pregnancy care by monitoring the health of the mother-to-be and her unborn baby.
  • Provide education, counseling, and prenatal care individualized to each woman.
  • Assist during labor and delivery.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Head Nurse or Management

Job Specification

  • A Minimum of RN/post basic midwifery nursing from any accredited school of nursing or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in midwifery nursing from a reputable hospital
  • Basic Life Support certificate is a MUST
  • ACLS certificate would be an added advantage
  • Sufficient clinical knowledge.
