  • Able to Match, batch and code invoices
  • Maintaining rigorous controls over transactions to mitigate any fraud risks
  • Strong background in internal control processes and procedures
  • Handling confidential information in line with the company's data security protocols
  • Investigating and resolving all irregular and unusual transactions
  • Methodical approach to getting things done
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that municipal finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner
  • Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services
  • List all vendor cheques in the log book
  • Verify pay amounts, hours of work, deductions, etc.
  • Verify coding and obtain signatures
  • Batch pay sheets for data entry
  • Data enter of payroll information
  • Log in and distribute pay cheques
  • Prepare and remit source deductions and payroll tax
  • Provide administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations
  • Maintain inventory files
  • Maintain a filing system for all financial documents
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial and employee files
  • Prepare manual cheques as and when required
  • Maintain listing of accounts payable
  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Maintain updated vendor files and file numbers
  • Print and distribute monthly financial reports
  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Prepare batches of invoices for data entry
  • Data enter invoices for payment
  • Process backup reports after data entry
  • Manage the weekly cheque run
  • Record all cheques
  • Prepare vendor cheques for mailing
  • Complete payroll functions in order to ensure staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner
  • Establish and maintain confidential casual employee files
  • Calculate salaries and benefits
  • Perform other related duties as required
Key Challenges:
  • Meet deadlines associated with a wide variety of people on various issues
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting or other related courses.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • Minimum of 3 years accounts payable or general accounting experience
  • Proficient in data entry and management
