Evercare Hospital - Purpose built as a state of the art private hospital, Evercare Hospital Lekki is a 165 bed hospital, that offers a range of care across a range of specialty medical services. Equipped with Operating Theatres, Dialysis chairs, Emergency Department beds, a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, Intensive Care Unit, as well as fully equipped birthing suites.

Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Objective

  • To assist in the hospital laboratory and carry out duties and procedures as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out assigned duties and procedures
  • Collecting, receiving, verifying and labelling samples
  • Carry out phlebotomy services complying with the department standard operating procedures.
  • Manage patients and attendants constructively and honestly and manage their grievances
  • Coordinate with other clinical and non-clinical units to ensure total quality care is given to patients
  • Keep abreast of advancements in laboratory medicine through continuous education and personal professional development.
  • Membership of hospital committee as assigned
  • Abiding by the hospital rules, protocols and standard practices.
  • Analyze given samples as instructed
  • Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books for periodic statistics generation
  • Maintain a clean, sterile and safe environment in the laboratory
  • Maintain laboratory supplies by ensuring adequate stock level
  • Prompt incidence reporting and management of patients’ grievances
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology with experience of up to 2 years handling similar responsibilities
  • Empathy, compassion, active listening and eye for details
  • A ‘cool head’ in emergency situations
  • Respect for patients and keeping good relations with colleagues
  • Professional and ethical.
  • Full registration with the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria with valid practice license.
  • Good practical knowledge of hospital laboratory and phlebotomy
  • Knowledge of handling and operating unit equipment
  • Resuscitation skills and procedures – Basic Life Support
  • Good attitude, strong interpersonal communication skills
