The Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi was established in 1978 by Edict No. 2 of that year. It was amended by Edict No.4 of 1982. The Institution was established in order to train middle and high level manpower for the technological development of the country. The Institution runs full time programmes in both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels. The Polytechnic also has a School of Technical Education where Technical and Technology Teachers are trained.
All the full time ND NCE (Technical and HND programmes are accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE)

Requirements
Candidate must have the following requirements;
- By direct appointment of a candidate possessing PhD with at least 15 years qualification cognate experience or MLS with 18 years’ post qualification cognate experience with evidence of registration with professional Library body.
- The candidate must be on the rank of a Chief Librarian.
- Evidence of journal publication, Seminar/Conference papers (Local and International publications). Candidates must have at least produced 12 journals and 21 conference papers, or five chapters in a standard text(s) or two text Books.
- Evidence of community service/Knowledge of Computer.
- The appointment is for a period of five (5) years only.

Job Description
- The Rector is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Accounting Officer of the Polytechnic and has power to exercise general authority over both the staff and students and he is also responsible for discipline in the Polytechnic, subject to the general control of the Governing Council.
- In addition to proven Management and leadership experience, the successful candidate must have a demonstrable passion for academic endeavours and must also be credible.
Requirements, Qualifications and Qualities
The candidate for the post is expected to possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Must hold a Masters degree, preferably a doctorate degree from a recognized Institution in any of the discipline offered in the Polytechnic (viz. Engineering, Science, Technology, Commerce Administration and Management) with a minimum of fifteen years teaching experience, at least five (5) years of which must have been gained in a Polytechnic.
- Must be a Chief Lecturer from the Polytechnic Sector with not less than five (5) years’ experience on the rank.
- Must not be more than fifty-nine (59) years of age as at the time of application.
- Must demonstrate evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership, initiative and creativity in policy formulation, good human relations and positive managerial attributes.
- Must provide evidence of membership of reputable professional body/bodies in Nigeria.
- Must provide evidence of scholarly publications such as Books and publications in reputable journals within or outside the country as well as presentation of invited papers at educational conferences, seminars and workshops.
- Must be able to attract research grants and development facilities to the Polytechnic.
- Must be a person with initiative and vision with the capacity to sustain the accelerated pace of development of the Polytechnic even under financial and other challenging constraints.
- Must be a fair-minded and dynamic-individual with an impeccable reputation.
- Must be a person who is not likely to pursue racial ethical gender political religious or other sectional interest.
- Must be morally sound, of impeccable character physically and mentally healthy with evidence from a Government hospital.
- Must be proficient in information & Communication Technology (ICT).
- Must have evidence of Community service
Terms of Appointment/Condition of Service
- The appointment is for a term of four (4) years in the first instance and renewable subject to satisfactory performance, for another term of four (4) years and no more.
- The salary is consolidated and the appointee shall enjoy other benefits of the office as may be approved from time to time by the State Government.

Requirements
Candidate must have the following requirements:
- By direct appointment of candidate possessing a good Bachelor's Degree (Minimum of Second Class lower Division) preferably in the Arts Social Science or Humanities plus at least 18 years post qualification cognate experience or Masters in the relevant discipline plus at Least 16 years post qualification experience or a relevant Doctorate Degree in the relevant discipline with at least 15 years' post qualification cognate experience respectively.
- The candidate must be on the rank of a Deputy Registrar in a Polytechnic or similar Institution for at least 5 years.
- Membership of a recognized relevant and recognized professional body is mandatory.
- Evidence of community service/Knowledge of Computer.
- The appointment is for five (5) years only.
