Our humanitarian services sector aid children in crisis situations across the world. Tdh in Nigeria is currently implementing projects in Health, Wash and Child Protection sectors and is recruiting to fill the following vacant positions below in Borno State:     Job Title: Deputy Child Protection Project Manager Location: Borno General Objective

  • The Deputy Child Protection Project Manager will work in a close collaboration with Tdh Outreach Technical Officer, Case Management Technical Officer, PSS Technical Officer and FTR Technical Officers to provide an effective and efficient technical support, mentorship and capacity building to the Tdh local partner in Borno State areas.
  • Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Project Manager, he/she will contribute to strengthening of a community-based child protection prevention and response mechanism through delivery of capacity building trainings.
  • His/her roles and responsibilities will be laid down along reporting, managerial, technical and operational dimensions.
Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Support overseeing the implementation of the CP project activities in Borno State Areas, in accordance with project’s documents to ensure that objectives are reached and indicators are adequately and timely measured;
  • Support supervision and mentorship of the Outreach Technical Officer, Case Management Technical Officer, PSS Technical Officer and FTR Technical Officers to ensure that i) activities are carried out accountably and efficiently ii) gender is mainstreamed into activities and iii) beneficiary’s participation is included from the onset of the projects;
  • Inform the Child Protection Project Manager of identified challenges and delays of project implementation and assist to identify possible solutions or mitigation measures;
  • Provide valuable inputs to the M&E Officer for the development of monitoring tools to ensure that an effective and results-based monitoring system is in place;
  • Perform service mapping exercise and contribute to establishment of well-functional referral pathways;
  • Actively participate in the CP needs assessments by mobilizing community members, conducting interviews, administering surveys and producing quality needs assessments reports;
  • Perform field monitoring visits in 10 Borno State areas on a regular basis providing quality supervision and mentorship to the local partner, producing field visits reports by analysis of the visits observations and suggesting areas for improvements;
  • Prepare weekly and monthly internal reports for submission for the Child Protection Project Manager;
  • Contribute to capacity building of the local partner, in-country CP and non-CP organizations on the CPiE-related themes;
  • Contribute to capacity building of the CP program team and the local partner so as to strengthen their reporting, managerial, technical and operational capacities;
  • Contribute to development of the context-relevant structured psychosocial support activities, recreational activities, awareness raising sessions which would target children, adolescents, and adult target groups and adhere to the best international practices;
  • Assist Child Protection Project Manager in collaboration with support departments, i.e. HR, admin, logistics;
  • In collaboration with the Child Protection Project Manager, identify potential additional needs to be covered in the field of CP, make recommendations, and ensure that appropriate action is taken;
  • Take the initiative to conduct rapid need assessments, surveys or other action in the field of CP to inform about future areas of support and to maintain a very good level of understanding on uncovered protection needs in target areas;
  • Deliver any other tasks as assigned by the Child Protection Project Manager.
External Coordination and Representation:
  • Participate in the meetings of the Child Protection sub-Working Group and Case Management Task Force and liaise with other CP actors to increase understanding of CP issues in Nigeria and Borno State areas, identify uncovered protection needs for possible future interventions;
  • Routinely coordinate with the CP and non-CP actors on the ground to effectively contribute to the service mapping exercise and establishment of well-functional referral pathways;
  • Contribute to development of a community network to facilitate the project acceptance and stakeholder’s contribution and ownership;
  • Contribute to CP mainstreaming by providing capacity building trainings and workshops to a wide range of CP and non-CP actors on the CP themes, including Child Protection Minimum Standards;
  • Collaboration with the local authorities and a wide range of stakeholder for coordination and capacity building purposes.
Child Protection:
  • Promote, and ensure project activities are in line with child protection principles and humanitarian principles;
  • Ensure the project activities are well-integrated into the Northeastern Nigeria child protection system and humanitarian coordination practices and guidelines;
  • Ensure Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy and Child Protection Minimum Standards are mainstreamed through all the programmatic activities;
  • Report serious cases of abuse committed against children to the Child Protection Project Manager. Strict confidentiality must be respected.
Other:
  • Fully comply with Tdh Code of Conduct and ensure Child Safeguarding Policy is upheld at all times;
  • Ensure adherence to Tdh standards and quality requirements in all the project activities.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Language Skills: Fluent in local languages and in English (speaking/reading/writing)

  • Work experience: Minimum 3 years experience in the field of child protection / protection / social work

    Job Title: PSS Technical Officer Location: Maiduguri, Borno General Objective
  • The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Technical Officer is responsible for strengthening the technical and operational capacities of the local partner in its delivery of structured psychosocial support and recreational activities for children, adolescents, and caregivers target groups in Borno State areas.
  • He/she will be responsible for providing an on-going technical support tthe local partner through regular field visits, supervision, and capacity building trainings and workshops tensure quality and relevance of the overall psychosocial intervention strategy.
Responsabilities and Tasks Technical and operational capacity building of the local partner:
  • Lead the process of identification of capacity building needs in the field of PSS and designing a tailored trainings plan
  • Deliver capacity building trainings for local partner in the field of PSS aimed at an increase of the overall psychosocial well-being in children, adolescents, and caregivers
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits t10 locations of BornState areas, organize technical follow up meetings, draft field visits reports, suggest the necessary improvements and monitor its translation intrreality
  • Support local partner in designing an array of age and gender appropriate psychosocial interventions for children, adolescents and caregivers using Tdh existing tools and guidelines, including materials produced by the verified and reputable sources such as UNICEF, IASC, CPWG and others
  • Support local partner in incorporation of quality psychosocial support intcase management services, FTR, and community-based outreach
  • Support local partner in assessment of its available psychosocial support and recreational activities tools, identification of gaps and needs, and suggesting avenues for improvement
Internal Coordination:
  • Closely collaborate with the Outreach Technical Officer on incorporation of psychosocial support intcommunity-based outreach
  • Closely collaborate with the Case Management Technical Officer tensure that psychosocial support is incorporated intcase management services
  • Closely coordinate with FTR Technical Officers tensure psychosocial support is mainstreamed through the FTR processes
  • Closely coordinate with Deputy Child Protection Project Manager on the overall implementation of the CP activities and drafting the weekly and monthly reports for submission tthe Child Protection Project Manager
  • Closely coordinate with M&E officer by providing a quality inputs intdesign and development of the monitoring system, participating in the needs assessments and evaluation processes for lessons learnt exercise and reporting purposes
  • Ensure regular communication with the Child Protection Project Manager about updates, achievements and challenges through meetings, reports and ad hoc communication upon request and upcoming needs

    Job Title: Case Management Technical Officer Location: Maiduguri, Borno General Objective
  • The Case Management (CM) Technical Officer is responsible for strengthening the technical and operational capacities of the local partner in its delivery of comprehensive case management services to Unaccompanied, Separated (UASC) and otherwise vulnerable children in Borno State areas.
  • He/she will be responsible for providing an ongoing technical support to the local partner through field visits, supervision, and capacity building trainings to ensure quality and relevance of a case management system.
Responsabilities and Tasks
  • Technical and operational capacity building of the local partner
  • Ensure that the child protection case management system is in a full alignment with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for working with UASC and otherwise vulnerable children in Northeastern Nigeria and adheres to the main SOP tools (CPIMS, case management forms)
  • Contribute to design and delivery of a capacity building plan for the local partner, including refresher trainings and workshops throughout the project’s timeframe
  • Support local partner in setting up and reinforcement of a case management system
  • Support local partner in establishment of well-functional referral pathways by participating in the service mapping exercise and a regular coordination with other CP and non-CP actors on the ground
  • Develop adapted and contextualized case management tools
  • Participation in case conferences for the most vulnerable cases
  • Conduct field monitoring visits to 10 locations in Borno State areas, organize technical follow up meetings, draft field visits reports, suggest the necessary improvements and monitor its translation intro reality
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer support groups when needed
  • Liaise and collaborate with the counterpart of the local partner to support him/her in monitoring timescales of the response, decision making, follow up, case management meetings, and case management supervisions
  • Ensure that Child Protection Data and Information Sharing protocol is respected at all times
Internal Coordination:
  • Closely collaborate with the Outreach Technical Officer on incorporation of messaging on the safe and confidential community-based referral pathways into community-based outreach
  • Closely coordinate with FTR Technical Officers to ensure respect of the case management principles and adherence to the inter-agency SOP in the process of FRT and alternative care management
  • Closely coordinate with Deputy Child Protection Project Manager on the overall implementation of the CP activities and drafting the weekly and monthly reports for submission to the Child Protection Project Manager
