Job Title: Public Relations & Corporate Communications Associate Officer
Location: Abuja
Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of communication working closely with other teams to support effectively the strategic objectives of Tongston and its clients, and convey its key messages to different stakeholders.
- Handle memberships, endorsements & accreditations for Tongston Group to various relevant associations, groups and organizations.
- Manage updates to and implementation of Tongston’s communication policy.
- Proactively build and maintain media and branding relationships including securing speaking slots and media coverage of Tongston’s events and activities.
- Monitor the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media sites and blogs, for opportunities for Tongston and its clients.
- Prepare and distribute press releases on internal and external social media platforms and other media.
- Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs.
- Setup, update and monitor the approved calendar of events for Tongston and its clients.
- Plan, attend, coordinate and execute external and internal product launches, press conferences, showcases, interviews, summits, events, fairs and coordinate as directed for Tongston and its clients including sourcing speakers and seeking sponsorship opportunities.
- Prepare presentation materials for delivery to potential local and international Tier I media, including media kits, project factsheets, digital marketing proposals and various bidding materials as required to create business development opportunities for Tongston.
- Draft and facilitate publishing thought leadership articles, articles, annual reports, conference papers, speeches for publication, press briefings and other related external communications.
- Provide clients with information about new promotional opportunities and current PR campaigns progress.
- Manage the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation.
Education & Experience
- A University Degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Management or a related field of study.
- A post-graduate or professional qualification in Journalism, English, Communication, Marketing or Public Relations would be an advantage.
- Ability to think creatively in developing PR materials and campaigns.
- Background in researching, writing and editing publications.
- Ability to pitch to media, with established relationships with traditional media houses (TV, Newspaper and Radio) locally and internally being an advantage.
- Experience managing media relations and digital campaigns e.g. through Real Magnet/Mail Chimp/Zoho CRM experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in key applications (MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Corel Draw, Adobe Systems; Skydrive, DropBox, Google Docs, and any other required applications).
- Experience managing media relations (online, broadcast and print).
- Exceptional written and veral communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills.
