We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Project Driver Location: Sokoto State. Introduction

  • The Northern Education Initiative Plus invites application from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Assessment Specialist.
  • The Project Driver will convey staff, consultant, and other authorized persons from one location to the other as may be directed by your supervisor.
  • He will report directly to the Security and logistic officer Sokoto and work closely with the officer manager and Admin assistant. This position is based in Sokoto, Nigeria.
Essential Job Functions Primary Responsibilities: The Project Driver will be responsible for transporting the staff of the EDC/Sokoto office in support of program activities and programs. The Driver will ensure that project vehicles are maintained and that they are in good condition at all times. The Driver’s responsibilities include:
  • Keep up a travel log to record areas travelled to, travel time, and work hours.
  • Takes vehicle to the mechanic workshop for repairs and tests repaired vehicle for correction of errors reported.
  • Performs minor and driver level diagnostic reviews of the vehicle as may be needed from time to time.
  • Support operations clerical duties while in the office.
  • Present positive image of the Project through good appearance and behavior in relating to staff, third parties and the public.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time
  • Proper and constant updates of the vehicle log book, keep up a travel log to record areas travelled to, travel time, and work hours
  • Maintaining routine checks on project vehicles and ensure that the vehicle is sound
  • Conveys staff, consultants and other authorized persons from one location to the other as may be directed by my supervisor.
  • Ensuring that Vehicle approve form is duly signed before any travel begins
  • Ensure that vehicles are kept perfect and clean at all times by washing both the inside and outside parts of the vehicle
  • Recognize electrical and mechanical faults, records same in the vehicle log book and reports to supervisor.
Skills and Experience An ideal candidate will have:
  • Minimum requirement of SSCE and Trade test is an added advantage.
  • At least 3-5 years working experience with International organization
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Prior experience as a driver with USAID-funded projects preferred
  • Certificate on professional driving is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Hausa and knowledge on immediate environment is an added advantage

  • This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; creativity, and flexibility; ability to effectively work independently as well as in groups; strong interpersonal skills.
