Job Title: Process Engineer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

What role you will play in our team

  • The Process Engineer stewards all phases of process engineering for operations and design activities.
  • For Operations, the engineer provides expertise by running simulation and looking at operating data to troubleshoot process challenges.
  • Engineer also looks at operating data and simulation model to optimize production.
  • The engineer will steward process related operational challenges and work to overcome the issues.

What you will do

  • Ensure effective Process and Facilities engineering support to Assets
  • Lead and perform process optimization studies to identify / evaluate capital / operating cost savings, process configuration alternatives, safety facilities requirements, etc.
  • Steward discipline engineering queries from the Contractor and sub-contractors as well as technical information requests
  • Participate in discipline engineering reviews at Contractor's and subcontractor's locations
  • Drives and promotes capital efficiency in engineering design
  • Monitor and lead junior engineers in the development of process design specifications, including the development of heat & material balances, design flow plans, process equipment design, preliminary hydraulic balances, utility balances, basic process control & instrumentation, materials selection, safety facilities.
  • Perform effective surveillance ensuring timely analysis and reporting exceptions, produces KPIs and works with maintenance program owners to update
  • Define facilities improvement opportunities
  • Execute Root Cause Failure Analysis on failures above acceptable thresholds
  • Identity, assess and communicate timely safety and reliability exposures 
  • Participate in Hazard & Operability Reviews for new / modified facilities / in support of existing plant facilities
  • Contribute to operation procedures development and improvement as well as maintenance strategies development and improvement
  • Provide commissioning & start-up assistance for new / modified facilities, as required
  • Provide technical oversight for engineering contractor's work during front end engineering & design / detailed engineering to ensure consistency with Company methods & guidelines, project specifications & owner's requirements

About you
Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, required
  • Relevant >5 years working experience.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience:

  • Experience in petroleum refining / chemical process industry / with an engineering contractor serving these industries
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications.
  • Capital project development experience
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
