Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Location: Gudu District, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Part-time

Job Description

  • Taking proper stock and audit of drugs in the pharmacy.
  • Dispensing of drugs for inpatients and out patients.
  • Filling and labelling of medical containers.
  • Proper dispensing of all medications.
  • Checking of all prescriptions for errors, ensuring they are appropriate and safe for the individual patient.
  • Provide advice on the dosage of medicines and the most appropriate form of medication, which could be by tablet, injection, ointment or inhaler.
  • Maintaining of sufficient stock of all needed medications.
  • Detailing of medicines to doctors, nurses, interns etc.
  • Being in charge of requisition of all medicines.
  • Checking the quality and the sources of drugs before dispensing.
  • To keep up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability
  • To ensure and adhere to standard pharmacy safety measures and checks.
  • Involved with scientific meetings in the department.

Key Result Area (KRA)

  • Organize medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
  • Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies, and enter inventory data into computer.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform pharmacist of stock needs and shortages
  • Receive prescription or refill request from patients and verify that information is complete and accurate.
  • Deliver appropriate medications and pharmaceutical supplies in the right quantity to patients, nursing stations or surgery.
  • Verify prescription information and dosage.
  • Prepare the prescription labels, select the type of prescription container, and affix the prescription and auxiliary labels to the container.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, ensuring First-in-First-Out (FIFO) system is strictly adhered to, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt and removing outdated drugs.

Requirements

  • Minimum academic qualification of Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
  • 1 to 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies such as the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN)
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft office package.
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written), interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Current practicing license or proof of payment.
  • Ability to process prescriptions electronically.

Salary
N70,000 - N150,000 / Month.
