Cedarcrest Hospitals Limited was founded in Abuja in January, 2008. The hospital started as a mono specialty centre and was formerly known as Cedarcrest Orthopaedic Clinics Ltd. Within a few years the hospital expanded its scope of services and has become a leading private multispecialty hospital. The core vision of the organisation is to provide world class specialist healthcare services to patients in Nigeria and the West African sub region.

Cedarcrest Hospitals Limited currently has four hospitals located in Abuja, Lagos, Kainji and Jebba having over one hundred (100) bed capacity without patient camps in several other cities across Nigeria. Our services and facilities span several specialities and include emergency / trauma centre, radiology diagnostic centre, prosthetic manufacturing plant, oxygen manufacturing plant, modular surgical operating theatres, gastrointestinal endoscopy suite and several other facilities that make for a modern multispecialty hospital.

Job Title: Orthopaedic Surgeon

Purpose of the Role

  • The orthopaedic surgeon willexamine, diagnose, and treat diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system.
  • Prescribe course of treatment for patients with injuries, disorders, or malformations and perform required surgery.
  • He/she will work as a team with other members of staff to ensure that the highest standard of quality and service are maintained. 

Key Performance Areas

  • Consulting with patients and analyzing patient data to determine patient needs and treatment goals.
  • Examining patients to diagnose bone, joint, ligament, or other musculoskeletal problems, including diseases, or injuries.
  • Referring patients to physical therapy, when necessary, or performing non-invasive procedures such as casting and splinting limbs.
  • Monitoring ongoing progress and health of patients, and changing treatment plans, as necessary.
  • Providing support and advice to patients receiving long-term care.
  • Conducting research on defects, diseases, and disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system.
  • Collaborating with other specialists, when necessary, to determine a course of treatment.
  • Recording patient care by maintaining detailed notes of appointments with patients, including comments, tests, and/or treatments prescribed, and test results.
  • Performing surgical procedures on various parts of the musculoskeletal system as a team.
  • And perform any other duties as may reasonably be required.

Education, Certification and Experience Requirements

  • M.B.B.S or equivalent
  • FWACS (Trauma/Orthopaedics) or FMCOrth
  • Certification - Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and current annual Practicing License.
  • Highly motivated team player willing to go the extra mile
  • Administrative training will be an advantage
  • Five years of experience in general surgery
  • Highly motivated team player willing to go the extra mile.
  • Proficient with Healthcare Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite .
  • Candidates must possess NYSC discharge Certificate or Exemption letter. Proficient with Healthcare Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
