Job Title: Mechatronics Technician
Location: Lagos
Reports To: Head, Project Services

Job Summary & Purpose

  • We are currently sourcing for a Mechatronics Technician to join our team and support the strategic roadmap of our Operations Department.
  • The responsibilities of this role include carrying out maintenance, mechanical repair, machine repair, and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings of assigned engineering projects at the customers’ facility to ensure optimum performance of equipment and little or no downtime.
  • To be successful in this role, you should have solid field equipment and pipeworks installation, construction, electrical and mechanical skills and be familiar with mechanical and electrical components required in the manufacturing industry or industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Project Engineers.
  • Carry out feasibility studies of mechanical related projects.
  • Site supervision of mechanical projects.
  • Manage workshop equipment and tools.
  • Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates appropriately.
  • Perform machine shop work operating various machines such as drill presses, grinders, MIG/TIG/stick welders, plasma torches, cutting equipment (i.e., chop saw), pneumatic tools and electric/manual hand tools
  • Responsible for proper care/cleaning of all project tools, parts, materials, and work area.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and simple electrical problems on plant facilities and production equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and documents maintenance concerns/resolutions in an electronic database; providing action plans and status reports as needed

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • OND, NABTEB and Trade Test in Mechatronics, Mechanical / Production Engineering or other relevant courses

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of proven work experience as a maintenance, project or installation technician in production, industrial maintenance, or construction environment
  • Functional knowledge of mechanical components and implementation methods and practises

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • MS Office proficiency – Words / Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook / Projects
  • Intermediate proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and other mechanical engineering software applications (Mathcad, etc.)
  • Line layout sketch capability
  • Strong mechanical repair/troubleshooting and metalworking skills.
  • Proficiency in machine repair, machine tool operations, pipefitting, and welding.
  • Functional knowledge of mechanical components (valves, pipe fittings, bearings, motors, gearboxes, etc.).
  • Ability to read and/or interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints or schematics.
