Purpose and Accountabilities
- The purpose of the role is to support the Construction HSSE&SP Leadership team in Environmental and Social Performance management and providing required proactive Environmental and Social Performance expertise for the coal face activities during construction to commissioning /start-up phases of the Projects.
- This role will support, and coach EPC Contractor and Sub-contractors tactical and operational teams to focus on the overall project aspiration of the Incident and Injury Free Project across all the phases of the project through structured and targeted initiatives and assist projects in implementation of the Project ESHMP for main construction phase.
- This role will work closely with the coalface workforce, key external stakeholders, and EPC contractor and sub-contractor’s tactical leadership to ensure compliance with all environmental and social performance requirements for the Project.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the role will include, but not be limited to:
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Company’s ESHMP actions.
- Provide the required assurance for the Contractor’s ESHMP actions.
- Deputize for the Snr. Environment and Social Performance Lead.
- Drive the implementation of all Social and Health Campaigns within the community.
- Manage the distribution of dredged spoil and waste sand distribution to the local community residence.
- Monitor the implementation of Environmental component of the Company’s HSSE&SP AoTC Activities
- Monitor the implementation of Project specific scope in the Corporate Social Impact Mitigation Plan.
- Support Community Projects implementation by providing required social performance oversights.
- Facilitate the implementation of project Environmental Plan at the construction activities frontline and consistently manage Environmental Risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), preventing harm to personnel and leaks to the environment.
Dimension
- Direct influence on the contractor and sub-contractor’s environment team, through the proper interface with key stakeholders on the project to ensure compliance with ESHMP and Lenders requirements.
- Ability to coach/enable contractor personnel to deliver (appropriate control and assurance etc).
Job Requirements
- First Degree or HND in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental and Biological Sciences
- Ability to work across international/cultural boundaries.
- Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong team player with good communications and interpersonal skills.
- 3+ Years in Oil & Gas; 3 Years in direct Environmental Affairs or Social Performance Role
- Environmental Assurance Process is a plus.
Additional Information:
- The ideal candidate would have proven experience in interpretation and implementation of EIA report actions.
- Field environment affairs experience in the oil and gas industry would be an advantage.
- Fluent in English, written and verbally, and versatile in report writing.
- Team player, excellent communications, and interpersonal relationship skills.
