Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Aba, Abia
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mechanical systems and machinery within the production plant.
  • The role involves ensuring that all mechanical systems operate efficiently, effectively, and safely.
  • The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the production team to optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to enhance production quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and machinery for the manufacturing process.
  • Oversee and optimize various plastic manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion molding, blow molding, thermoforming, and rotational molding.
  • Maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting injection molding machines, blow molding machinery, and other production equipment.
  • Establishing quality control systems, developing test methods, and analyzing production data to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure that all mechanical systems and machinery meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for mechanical components.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and departments to integrate mechanical designs with overall plant operations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to product design, manufacturing processes, and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastics industry.
  • Ability to design and develop plastic products, including prototyping.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Professional engineering certification (e.g., COREN) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of various plastics manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion molding, die casting, thermoforming, rotational molding, and vacuum forming.
