United Geophysical (Nigeria) Limited is Nigeria's oldest oil service company having began operations in the western Niger Delta in the early 1960’s and incorporated as a limited liability company in 1971. The company has over 50 years of continuous operations specialising in land and swamp 2D, 3D and 4D seismic data acquisition and has conducted seismic surveys for all the major oil companies operating in Nigeria.

Job Title: Marine Logistics Officer
Locations: Akwa Ibom and Lagos

Job Brief

  • We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Marine Logistics Officer to join our team.
  • The Maine Logistics Officer will be responsible for coordinating the marine transportation, storage of marine equipment, and distribution of goods.
  • This role requires strong logistical planning skills, the ability to multitask, and a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare shipping documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Movements & logistics involving marine vessels and associated activities.
  • You negotiate with suppliers the best conditions to adopt
  • You monitor the progress of the shipment until final destination.
  • Liaise with other departments and the crew management on day to day requirements from the marine sector.
  • Liaise on behalf of the company with external parties who operates on water ways shared with the company during normal operations.
  • Participate in fuel management as it relates to marine operations.
  • Ensure there is effective communication between all company’s vessels and central control room.
  • Participate in Journey Management Procedure as it relates to marine operations.
  • Ensure safety of all vessels and personnel using all company vessels.
  • Submit daily, weekly and monthly report of activities of the vessels and user departments in a format that makes efficiency visible and constructive.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Procedure as it relates to break down or accidents involving our vessels.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Maritime laws and its governing bodies.
  • Knowledge of marine transportation regulations and international trade practices.
