Job Summary
- We are activel recruiting for a renowned Public Relations and Communications Company based in Lagos State, Nigeria and they are looking to hire an ambitious and accomplished Public Relations Strategist for this high-profile position.
- You will be the first in command and responsible for giving the proper strategic direction as well as creating a vision for success.
- The ideal candidate will provide effective leadership and vision for the company to grow value responsibly in a commercial, profitable and sustainable manner and set the tone for Management to foster ethical and decision-making on appropriate management and best-in-class corporate practices.
Job Description
Leadership:
- Maintain a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating top-quality creative professionals at all levels.
- Seek to ensure that all employees have their responsibilities and authorities clearly defined.
- Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and encourages individual integrity and social responsibility, supporting the interdisciplinary fabric of the company
- Work with key executive officers to promote a culture of ethical business conduct and establish top-notch media standards and oversight structures that are reasonably designed to promote integrity and deter wrongdoing.
- Continually challenge executive officers and all employees to think strategically.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop, at least annually, for consideration by the Board, a strategic plan outlining the direction and policies which seek to ensure profitable growth and success.
- Establish priorities in terms of corporate objectives and approved long-term strategies, guiding principles and corporate milestones.
- Establish the strategic framework for the allocation of financial and human capital.
Financial Planning:
- Develop annually, for consideration by the Board, sound business plans and budgets to meet the company’s goals and objectives.
Tactical:
- Direct and monitor the activities of the company in a manner which seeks to ensure that strategic, business and operational plans and PR activities are met and that assets are safeguarded and optimized.
- Oversee the emergence, introduction and implementation of innovative PR campaigns; prepare various strategic units and operational units for swift integration.
- Establish, monitor and maintain appropriate PR management systems to provide effective internal control of operations and client delivery.
- Identify, to the extent possible, all significant risks to the company’s business and consider and establish, where appropriate, procedures to mitigate the impact of the risks.
- Oversee the compensation, performance assessment, leadership, talent development and succession planning of senior management.
- Oversee the development and implementation new creative ideas, PR strategies and operational policies to guide the company within the limits prescribed by applicable laws and regulations and the framework of the strategy approved by the Board of Directors.
- Define the strategic direction for safety, establishing performance targets for the operating businesses and ensuring adherence to established policies and standards.
Communication and Relationships:
- Uphold commitment to providing timely, accurate and balanced disclosure of all material information in accordance with the Disclosure Policy and applicable securities laws.
- Ensure effective relationships are established and maintained with investors, PR partners, creative, film academies, media houses and other external stakeholders, including governments, the financial community and the public.
- Provide quarterly and annual certificates addressing the accuracy of the financial statements and accompanying management's discussion and analysis.
Succession Planning:
- Develop and maintain a continuous plan for the development and performance management of senior PR executive officers, including the appointment, training, mentoring and monitoring of such officers.
- Identify and develop potential successors who can now or who will in the future be able to fill the position of Dean, Assistant Dean and other key senior PR executive positions. These recommendations are to be reviewed annually with the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and the Board of Directors.
Experience / Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related, MBA from top school preferred.
- 8-10 years’ extensive leadership and business experience with a proven track record of innovation, entrepreneurship, delivery and performance across multidisciplinary areas and projects in the innovative media and PR market space.
- Prior experience as a Chief Executive Officer, Director and/or as a C-Suite PR Executive role is desired.
- Dynamic mentorship abilities with a bias for constantly seeking ways to further enable others to excel while supporting innovative and alternative pedagogical PR methodologies.
