Job Title: Legal Officer
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Description
- Drafting contracts and other legal documents.
- Reviewing cases to determine whether they have legal merit
- Preparing legal papers and briefs, researching legal issues.
- Representing clients in court, negotiating with opposing counsel, and working with clients to develop legal arguments
- Representing clients in court or other settings, such as depositions or hearings
- Conducting research on legal issues to support litigation efforts
- Interpreting laws, regulations, and policies to advise clients about how these apply to their situation
- Reviewing and analyzing laws, regulations, and cases related to specific industries such as insurance, banking, or securities trading to advise companies on how to comply with legal requirements
- Advising on a wide range of legal matters, including regulatory, operational, and employment issues to support the firm’s growth and international business strategy.
- Managing the regulatory coverage for the firm’s global trading activities, liaising with regulators, exchanges, and trading counterparties in multiple regions.
- Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff.
- Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
- Managing of administrative staff and all their activities.
- Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements in the countries where we work.
- Formulate legal compliance check-lists to be used for the purpose of ensuring that all information required is provided accordingly.
- Prepare, review and modify contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities.
- Provide guidance on contract matters to project managers or other operational staff.
- Supporting the team by advising on customer deals, including drafting templates and customized agreements.
Requirements
Academic Qualification:
- Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Law and an Advanced University Degree (Master's Degree or equivalent) in International Law.
Experience:
- 7 - 8 years of professional experience providing advice in Public and International Law.
Competences:
- Excellent communication, negotiation and diplomatic skills.
- Technological literacy
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Strong communication skills to help attorneys to build trust with their clients.
- Providing regular updates to clients and ensure that they understand the legal.
- Good leadership and team building skills
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory law
- Experience in the area of law relevant to the position
- Judicialclerkship experience
