Job Objective
- We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Legal Associate to join our logistics company. As a Legal Associate, you will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance to ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to the logistics industry. Your expertise will be instrumental in safeguarding the company's interests and contributing to its overall success.
Responsibilities
Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, including transportation contracts, service agreements, vendor contracts, and customer agreements.
- Ensure that all contracts align with legal and regulatory requirements and protect the company's interests.
- Maintain an organized contract repository and update contract templates as needed.
Compliance and Regulatory Matters:
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations related to logistics, transportation, and international trade. Keep the company informed of any legal developments that may impact operations.
- Develop and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct internal audits to identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
Dispute Resolution:
- Assist in resolving disputes with clients, suppliers, and other parties through negotiation, mediation, and other appropriate means.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary to handle complex legal disputes or litigation.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with business operations and propose risk mitigation strategies.
- Review insurance policies and assess coverage adequacy to protect the company's assets.
Intellectual Property:
- Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Conduct searches and investigations to identify potential infringements and take appropriate legal actions as required.
Corporate Governance and Ethics:
- Assist in corporate governance matters, including preparation of board materials and company policies.
- Promote ethical business practices and compliance with the company's code of conduct.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Law or a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Membership in the Bar Association is required.
- 5 - 10 years work experience.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Legal Associate or similar role, preferably with exposure to the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing legal requirements and business needs in a dynamic industry.
- As a Legal Associate at our logistics company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance, managing risks, and protecting the company's interests.
- Your expertise in logistics laws and regulations will contribute to the company's continued growth and success in the fast-paced logistics industry.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of logistics laws and regulations, contract law, intellectual property, and corporate governance.
- Contract Management: Demonstrated experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams, external partners, and legal authorities.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess legal risks and propose effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in legal documents and compliance matters.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Team Player: A collaborative and supportive team player who can work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Salary
N200,000 - N250,000 / month.
