Established in 1982, the cooperative society provides thrift, loan, and other value-adding services to its over 9000 members all over Nigeria. Its members are employees of a notable organisation with branches in all the 36 states of the Federation including Abuja.

Job Title: Head, Finance and Administration
Job Ref: 002
Location: Abuja
Key Objectives
- Oversee the financial administration, people management, and administrative support of the COOP and ensure all the statutory accounting and reporting functions are fulfilled.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the COOP’s financial reporting and interfacing with auditors to provide audited financial reports within agreed timelines.
- Implement and operate financial controls as necessary and appropriate
- Working with budget holders, prepare the annual budget for approval by the DGM and Management Committee.
- Monitor all payments and ensure that all relevant regulations are being complied with.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial legislation, regulations and guidelines
- Liaise with the COOP’s investment fund managers regarding the investment of funds and reporting of financial performance for internal and statutory purposes.
- Monitor and manage cash flows to maximise interest receivable and other returns, and to minimize waste.
- Maintain strong working relationships with bankers, auditors and investment managers.
- Manage staff in the Finance & Administration Department, monitoring their work, setting targets and carrying out regular appraisals.
- Liaise with staff from other departments as necessary, providing proactive support and advice on financial issues as needed.
- Perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Finance or Accounting. A post-graduate degree will be added advantage.
- Relevant professional qualification/membership in Finance or Accounting (e.g. lCAN, CFA, ACCA, ANAN)
- Minimum of 6 years’ post-graduate experience with at least two at leadership/supervisory level
- Experience in a multi-purpose cooperative society will be added advantage
- In-depth knowledge of generally accepted finance and accounting principles and standards (IFRS, SAS, IAS, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of financial management; especially in investment and treasury management
- Hands-on practical experience and use of accounting packages.
- Strong skills in communication, negotiation, analysis, problem-solving, office productivity tools as well as other relevant technology.

Job Title: Internal Control Manager

Key Objective
- Review existing accounting and financial controls and other legal compliance processes in place and make any necessary revisions or additions. In doing so, communicate urgent changes immediately with department managers and staff.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain accounting and financial controls for the COOP as well as legal/regulatory compliance mechanisms.
- Conduct regular internal audits and reviews, and periodically simulate events to evaluate the level of compliance employees and departments as a whole.
- Report risk management issues and internal controls deficiencies identified directly to the management committee and provide recommendations for improving the COOP’s operations.
- Ensure compliance to financial and accounting procedures as well as regulatory requirements, without compromising operational efficiency
- Review the responses to internal and external audit management letter queries to ensure that recommendations are implemented and ensure that all action items are resolved
- Establish the COOP’s business continuity and disaster recovery program
- Act as the liaison between management and external auditors in control related matters.
- Build and develop an extensive relationship with regulators and professionals in the industry to keep close tabs on developing trends, and promote the interest of the organization.

Qualification and Skills
- First degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
- Membership of ICAN, CIA, ACCA. CPA or other professional bodies.
- Minimum of 5 years of audit / internal control experience.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of audit software applications.
- Knowledge of Financial Regulations and treasury accounting.
- High level of integrity, confidence, attention to detail and objectivity.
- Experience in writing internal policies and procedures and process evaluation and documentation
- Demonstrated knowledge of internal controls
- Strong analytical skills

Job Title: Deputy General Manager

Key Objectives
- Lead the COOP to develop and execute investment strategies and plans;
- Assess the COOP’s value-delivery to its members across the Federation; and
- Inspire the COOP’s officials to operate at the highest level of professional and ethical standards that engenders the trust and respect of its members.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop business plans, budgets and strategies for consideration, review and approval by the Management Committee (MC).
- Align the operations of the COOP with the strategic direction as approved and/or laid out by the Management Committee.
- Create, drive and embed a strong customer-centric culture giving the esteemed members the best positive customer experience at all times.
- Provide the MC with sufficient and accurate information and performance reports on a timely basis including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, to reasonably position the MC to fulfil its governance responsibilities.
- Identify and manage operational and business risks for the COOP and its projects.
- Manage the COOP in line with ethical policies and necessary regulations.
- Conduct self at all times and in a manner consistent with the code of conduct/values of the COOP.
- Act as role model to staff, drive team cohesion and manage succession.
- Supervise the work of employees and provide feedback to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain good and ethical business relationships with COOP members, partners, vendors, and other stakeholders for the benefit of the Society.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements for COOPs.
- Maintain customer confidence and protect the COOP by keeping financial information confidential and strengthening internal controls.
Qualifications and Skills
- First degree in finance, business or related field. A master’s degree will be an advantage
- 15 years’ post qualification cognate working experience in the Finance industry or reputable Cooperative Society, 5 of which must have been at managerial level
- Knowledge of the Cooperative Societies Act
- Proficiency in dealing with figures, complex modelling and analysis, as well as in-depth knowledge of financial systems and procedures
- Good understanding of supply chain and procurement laws and regulations.
- Excellent customer service, stakeholder relations, interpersonal, communication and managerial skills.
- Membership of a relevant reputable professional association in Finance, HR, Accounting or Business.

Job Title: Officer, IT / Systems

Key Objectives
- Ensure continued availability of the necessary information communication technology systems required by the COOP.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the COOP’s ICT systems and advise on matters relating to Information and communication technology.
- Ensure the availability, performance and security of IT systems and applications at the COOP, including vulnerability and patch management.
- Perform systems, network, communications and database management and administration.
- Set up, configure and maintain computer systems and issue password and log in.
- Prepare tender specifications and advise on the selection of computer hardware and software, as required.
- Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance of hardware and systems software.
- Manage the update of the website of the COOP.
- Perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from a reputable tertiary institution.
- Professional qualification in Information Technology is desired.
- Minimum of 5 years’ cognate experience.
- Good knowledge of relevant ICT systems and technologies.
- Knowledge of information management tools and techniques.
- Good knowledge of office automation including the ability to install and troubleshoot PCs.
- Working knowledge of server network protocols and internet/intranet applications.
- Excellent problem management, user requirement analysis and process/diagnostic techniques.
- Excellent communication skills.
