IITA is looking for a suitably qualified person to fill the position of:

Job Title: Senior Research Support Officer

Location:
Ibadan

Job Description:

  • Lead the application of field survey to validate farmers Agro-ecological knowledge
  • Implement capacity building plan at farmers and extension officer level, NGOs and NARS technicians involved in the project 
  • Plan and implementation of clean planting material of mapping population and elite varieties and ISFM intervention
  • Lead the implementation of pilots demonstration plots with ISFM
  • Elicit and collect data yam trials for ISFM and farmers participatory evaluation.
  • Coordinate the assistances MSc and PhD student in trials and experiment to develop a screening protocol for nutrient use efficiency
  • Lead the field implementation of participatory evaluation of ISFM interventions by production system
Minimum Qualification & Experience:
  • B.Sc/HND in Crop Production, General Agriculture or related discipline from a reputable University/college/polytechnic.
  • Minimum experience of Five (5) years in a similar position
Skills & Abilities:
  • Good knowledge and experience in managing field and lab experiments 
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural close interaction with NARS, NGO’s extension officers and farmer 
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure. 
  • Must be a good team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish field and lab experiments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
