The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Jos Sub Delegation, is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the positions below:     Job Title: Water and Habitat Assistant Location: Jos, Plateau Main Responsibilities

  • Support the team in follow up of basic administrative procedures: payment, correspondence, hand over and donation certificates
  • Ensure that all relevant documents for contracts (Requisition orders, Purchase Orders, contracts, amendments, and selection tablets) are available, archived and shared with all staff concerned
  • Collect data of project beneficiaries from engineers in change, compile and submit to Team Leader;
  • Organize water and habitat department internal weekly meeting with inputs of the team leader, prepare and share list of action point for follow-up
  • Compiles contributions to the Weekly Operational Report, tracking sheet, WPA, cash forecast and submit to the Team Leader
  • Compile teams weekly plans of movement and request vehicle allocation
  • Participate to Wathab department external meetings when possible, prepare minutes of meetings and submit them to the engineer in charge for approval before diffusion
  • Prepare payment documents, collect signatures and submit to finance responsible
  • Keep water and habitat contact list up to date
  • Maintain stationeries stock for the department
Required Qualifications
  • At least a Diploma Degree preferably in Accounting.
  • 1-2 years in same experience
  • Good computer skills

    Job Title: Water and Habitat Engineer Location: Maiduguri, Borno Main Responsibilities
  • Assesses sites, situations and needs with regard to Water and Habitat (WatHab) aspects
  • Collects and gathers information for a situation analysis
  • Prepares projects proposals including descriptions, sketches, drawings, bill of quantities, estimation costs and implementation planning based on analysis and WatHab objectives
  • Implements projects with contractors, sub-contractors, ICRC teams of technicians and / or combinations of the former
  • Supervises contractors, sub-contractors and ICRC teams
  • Trains and coach technical field staff & daily workers working on ongoing Wathab projects
  • Gives technical advice to team members for ongoing Wathab rehabilitation works
  • Follow the administrative, logistics and purchasing procedures
  • Manages the working advance, purchasing and delivery of WatHab materials according to ICRC procedures.
  • Prepares the necessary documentation for the request of quotations, for tendering procedures and for purchase of material - RO
  • Participates in the budget monitoring
  • Contributes to written reporting under supervision
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering namely Civil, Architecture or Electrical.

    Job Title: Hygiene Promotion Officer Location: Yola, Adamawa Main Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the design, development and implementation of hygiene promotion program in camps and non-camp settings.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Nigeria Red Cross Society volunteers by training, supervision, mentoring and follow up of progress on the capacity development of their skills.
  • Adopt participatory learning approaches/methods for community water, hygiene and sanitation
  • Participate in the monitoring of all hygiene promotion, and community mobilization activities to ensure target communities behavior change and project ownership.
  • Mobilize, organize and supervise, through facilitators or other means, members of the communities to take ownership of maintaining best practices in personal, community and environmental hygiene.
  • Conduct participatory hygiene promotion sessions within communities, groups of persons with specific needs, according to age, gender and diversity, community-based committees and other groups, such as duty bearers and stakeholders.
  • Draw programs in line with globally recognized hygiene and sanitation action days.i.e Global handwashing, World Toilet days.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental/Public Health/Social Science or equivalent training/experience in related technical field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ practical work experience working with vulnerable communities in the field of water/sanitation, WASH, hygiene or public health and experience in behavior change activities.
  • Familiarity with key health and hygiene issues and hygiene promotion/education activities in camp and/or non-camp settings.
  • Experience of training design, delivery, facilitation, mentoring and building the capacity of communities and partners is desirable.
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English as well as spoken Hausa.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with Adamawa/Borno South State.

    Job Title: Economic Security Field Officer - Cash and Market Location: Maiduguri, Borno Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assessing, designing, planning and implementation of Economic Security (EcoSec) cash based response in the area of responsibility.
  • Reports on the progress of the different EcoSec interventions and documents the lessons learned through the projects. He would be responsible to carry out feasibility study in markets for different type of cash assistance such as conditional, unconditional, voucher and cash for work.
  • Designs appropriate projects and ensures smooth implementation of the EcoSec Cash programme in the assigned area in coordination with other team members, assistance departments, respective, including involved local partners
  • Ensures the appropriateness of cash based intervention and necessary preconditions for the implementing any cash based are met (e.g. functioning markets, safe transfer mechanism, timing, risks analysis, local capacity, operational costs, beneficiary preferences, appropriateness/feasibility, social issues)
  • Prepares the necessary documents and tools for cash transfers such as, beneficiary lists with the amounts to be transferred and timing for instalments, agreements and communication materials on the specific interventions.
  • Does regular internal, oral and written reporting on field visits. Immediately reports any problems or delays in the implementation of the programme or the projects to the supervisors
  • Maintains and develops contacts and a good dialogue with relevant interlocutors mainly  independently,

    Job Title: Legal Officer Location: Abuja Main Responsibilities
  • Complete tasks such as research, drafting legal notes, participating in meetings and drafting minutes for broad range of legal issues related to but not limited to International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights Law and Criminal Law.
  • Provide legal advice to Assistance and Support Departments concerning contracts as well as other legal queries
  • Assist Legal Department in ensuring that all ICRC staff are familiar with the international legal framework applicable in Nigeria
  • Conduct research and analysis on specific legal matters to support the Legal Advisors and operations, as needed
  • Assists the Head of the Legal Department in carrying out comprehensive reporting of external activities, meetings, record keeping, and internal communication
Required Qualifications

  • Studied international law with a strong understanding of international humanitarian, human rights and criminal law
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience, preferably in Nigerian criminal law, international humanitarian law and general practice including with an international or Nigerian organisation
  • Excellent spoken and written English; passive understanding of French as asset
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Computer literacy (competency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases)
  • Understanding of the work and role of the ICRC in Nigeria
  • Relevant work experience in international organisations and Nigerian organisations (i.e. law firm)

  • Assess the general situation and identifies conflict-affected population needs according to the EcoSec set criteria
  • Participates in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the EcoSec programme activities mainly on emergencies and livelihoods response in close collaboration with Nigerian Red Cross Society
  • Provide immediate supervisor on weekly or ad hoc basis with updated statistical and logistic data
  • Does regular internal, oral and written reporting on field visits.  Immediately reports any problems or delays in the implementation of the programme or the projects to the supervisors
  • Prepares the EcoSec section of the sub-delegation's weekly operational report independently and contributes to other departmental reporting as required
  • Under the close supervision of the immediate supervisor, maintains and develops contacts and a good dialogue with relevant interlocutors.
  • Provides situation analysis relevant to the overall understanding of local dynamics for ICRC activities
