The Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) is a non-governmental, non-profit making coalition, made up of organizations with a shared vision to transform Nigeria into a country where every citizen has food and is nutrition secured. CS-SUNN pursues this lofty goal by engaging and mobilizing Government and Non-state actors to advocate for relevant policy implementation, raise awareness, generate evidence, build capacity and stimulate communities to scale-up nutrition in Nigeria, with special focus on maternal and child nutrition. The organizational capacity of CS-SUNN to become a leading voice on nutrition advocacy in Nigeria led to the SUN Movement Pooled Fund Project.

Job Title: Finance and Administrative Officer

Location: Abuja
Job type: Full-time

Role Overview

  • The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of CS-SUNN, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures, managing budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • This role is critical in supporting the financial health and sustainability of CS-SUNN’s projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with organizational policies.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor project and organizational budgets to ensure expenditures are within approved limits.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements and timelines.
  • Provide financial updates and analysis to the project team and senior management.

Payroll and Payments:

  • Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate calculation and timely payment of salaries and benefits.
  • Process payments to vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders in accordance with organizational policies.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure proper documentation and internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures, as well as donor regulations.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to audit findings.
  • Implement audit recommendations to strengthen financial controls and processes.

Accounting and Bookkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.

Qualifications and Experience
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.

Professional Certifications:

  • Professional certification in accounting or finance (e.g., ICAN, CPA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Familiarity with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the nutrition or public health sector.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting.
  • Experience with donor-funded projects and familiarity with donor compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of local and international nutrition policies and best practices.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
