University of Lagos - Founded in 1962, the University of Lagos has, for over 5 decades, provided qualitative and research-oriented education to Nigerians and all those who have entered its domain in search of knowledge. At its inception, the University of Lagos was empowered to produce a professional
workforce that would steer the political, social and economic development of a newly independent country.
The University began with three faculties: Commerce and Business Administration, Law and Medicine. The faculties of Arts, Education, Engineering and Science were added in 1964.
The University currently has a School of Postgraduate Studies, a Distance Learning Institute (DLI) and twelve faculties.

(i) Professor - A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in respective field from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
- A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate
- Professor for a minimum of three years. He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership.
- Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.

(ii) Associate Professor - A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a doctorate degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
- Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years.

(iii) Senior Lecturer - A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D in the respective field from a recognized University with a minimum of five (5) years
- University teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning. Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise. Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years.

(iv) Lecturer I - Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D degree in the respective field from a recognized University with at least four (4) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
- Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.
- Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.

(v) Lecturer II - Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in Economics from a recognized university. Evidence of scholarly publication will be an advantage.

(vi) Assistant Lecturer - A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and M.Sc. in Economics and must have registered for the Ph.D. programme.
b.) Department of Geography- Associate Professor Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in Geography from a recognized University at least eight (8) years of teaching and research experience in since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
- Candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three years. Competence in field instrumentation and monitoring of hydrological and soil parameters as well as evidence of field teaching and practicals in Geography would be an advantage.
Areas of Specialisation: Hydrology, Human Geography, Human Behavioral Analysis, Population Health, Migration and Leisure.
c.) Department of Mass Communication
(i) Professor- A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in the respective field from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- He/She must have ability to provide academic leadership. Candidate(s) must have his or her First Degree in Journalism and/or Mass Communication from an accredited University. He/She must hold membership of any of the Professional Associations such as APCON, NIPR, NGE, NUJ.
- A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
- A candidate must also have sufficient administrative experience and must have been an Associate Professor for a minimum of three years. Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
(ii) Associate Professor- A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in the respective field with at least eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- Candidate(s) must have his or her First Degree in Journalism and/or Mass Communication from an accredited University.
- He/She must hold membership of any of the Professional.
- Associations such as APCON, NIPR, NGE, NUJ.

(iii) Senior Lecturer- A candidate for this post should normally have a good first degree and a Ph.D. degree in the respective field with at least five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- Candidates must have his or her First degree in Journalism and/or Mass Communication from an accredited University.

(vi) Assistant Lecturer- A candidate for this post must possess a good first degree and M.Sc. degree in the relevant areas and must have registered for the Ph.D. programme.

d.) Department of Political Science
(i) Professor - A candidate for this post must possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in Political Science from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.

(ii) Associate Professor - A candidate for this post must possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in Political Science from a recognized University with not less than eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.

(iii) Senior Lecturer - A candidate for this post must possess a good first degree and Ph.D. in Political Science with at least five (5) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- Candidate must possess evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals and ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.
- Candidate must have been a Lecturer I for a minimum of three years. Candidates must be in a position to teach in at least two of the following:
- Political Theory
- Political Economy
- Public Administration
- International Relations
- Comparative Politics
- Research Methodology
(iv) Lecturer I - Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in Political Science with not less than four (4) years teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- Candidate must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level with evidence of practical skills and competence.
- Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals is also required in addition to ability to supervise post-graduate students in areas of expertise.
- Candidate must have been a Lecturer II for a minimum of three years.
- He/She must be able to teach in at least two of the areas listed in (iii) above
(v) Lecturer II - Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D degree in Political Science from a recognized university. Candidate must have considerable number of publications in learned journals. He/She must be able to teach in at least two of the areas listed in (iii) above.
(vi) Assistant Lecturer A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and M.Sc. in the relevant area and must have registered for the Ph.D. programme.
e.) Department of Psychology
(i) Professor - A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in respective field from a recognized University with not less than ten (10) years of teaching and research experience since a becoming Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
- He/She must have the ability to provide academic leadership.
- Candidates who have been Senior Lecturers for a minimum of six years may be considered for appointment.
- A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required in addition to evidence of ability to supervise post-graduate students including doctorate students in areas of expertise.

Areas of specialisation: Clinical/Health Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Cognitive Processes, Social/Environmental Psychology, Forensic/Legal Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Developmental Psychology.
(ii) Associate Professor - Candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree and Ph.D. degree in the respective field from a recognized University with at least eight (8) years of teaching and research experience since becoming a Lecturer II in a University or comparable institution of higher learning.
