Position Overview
- The Store Keeper plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient inventory management and smooth operations within the construction company.
- The primary responsibility of the Store Keeper is to oversee the receipt, storage, issuance, and record-keeping of materials and equipment required for construction projects.
- They are responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring the availability of materials as per project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Receive, inspect, and record all incoming materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of materials to prevent damage, spoilage, or loss.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, inventory movements, and consumption.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile them with the inventory records.
- Identify slow-moving or obsolete items and take necessary actions to minimize wastage.
Material Issuance and Replenishment:
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to understand material requirements.
- Prepare and issue materials and equipment as per approved requests and work orders.
- Ensure timely replenishment of stock to avoid shortages and project delays.
- Monitor stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions based on demand and consumption trends.
Supplier Coordination:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain competitive quotes, negotiate prices, and select reliable suppliers.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any issues related to quality or quantity.
- Verify invoices and ensure accuracy before processing payments.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of all materials transactions, including receipts, issuances, and returns.
- Generate regular reports on stock levels, consumption, and inventory status.
- Provide timely reports and updates to the management regarding stock availability and potential issues.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and guidelines while handling materials and equipment.
- Maintain proper storage conditions, including temperature control, for specific materials if required.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.
Requirements
- B.Sc in a related field. Additional certification in inventory management or related field is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a vast knowledge of plumbing and electrical materials used for construction (This is important)
- Proven experience of 5-10 years as a Store Keeper or similar role in a construction company
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and procedures.
- Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Proficiency in using computerized inventory management systems and MS Office applications.
Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 / month.
