Job Title: Lead Field Engineer - Electrical/Excitation

Role Summary/Purpose
- The Lead Field Engineer will provide on-site direction on all
customer products and facilities within a given territory as required by
the company.
Essential Responsibilities
- Electrical/excitations
- Provide on-site technical direction on electrical/excitation
systems, loop checks and system tests during installation, startup,
commissioning and maintenance on customer owned power generation and
industrial facilities.
- Prepare job-planning documents that define the electrical/excitation system scope of the installation.
- Utilize problem solving skills, engineering instructions,
drawings, and process instructions for Steam/Gas turbine installation,
commissioning and start-up.
- Provide input for Daily and Weekly Installation Reports.
- Communicate effectively with Installation Directors, Service
Managers and Site Leads on job planning and execution and with Resource
Directors regarding site arrivals, departures and job progression.
- Provide leadership and technical direction of installation to skilled labor performing work on customer sites.
- Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
- Possess technical capacity to troubleshoot and provide routine
installation and maintenance checkout for a wide range of equipment/GE
system vintages.
- Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages.
- Troubleshoot electrical/excitation installation, operations and
maintenance problems in the steam and/or gas turbine technologies
Qualifications/Requirements
- Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management and Web-based applications
- Willingness and ability to travel significantly with no geographical restrictions
- Must have ability to perform night work as required to meet business needs
- Must have a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one

- Exciter experience - EX2100R, EX2100e, Elin, EX2100 are preferred.
- Generator specialist skills also preferred.
- Knowledge of wide range of protection relays.

- Prior field engineering experience (4 years minimum) is preferred.

Role Summary/Purpose
- This position involves scope to cover both (Proposal) ITO and
(Execution) OTR for legacy Alstom GT. The ITO scope includes preparing
Standard inspection, Conversion, Modification & Uprate (CM&U)
technical proposals mainly for legacy Alstom Gas turbines (including
research, technical description, performance, emissions and cost
definition
Essential Responsibilities
- In this role you will utilize conceptual thinking and the
ability to quickly determine applicability of GE technology to support
the growing market in the MEA region.
- Provide engineering leadership and have responsibility for all
technical aspects of assessing each opportunity upfront for feasibility.
- Identify risk areas and address technical issues inherent with retrofitting GE gas equipment.
- Review customer specifications and ensure offering satisfies requirements and identify exceptions and/or clarifications.
- Coordinate with customers, GE regional and headquarters sales
and operations support, EED components, and key Core Power Services
organizations to ensure the CM&U proposal is compatible with the
unit, the customer needs, GE design standards and established quoting
limits.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations at customer meetings and conferences.
- Promote and contribute to business programs (cost reduction, continuous improvement, workout, business teams, etc.).
- Lead system level / fleet wide proposal activities.
- Review and own proposal related metrics.
- The engineering scope is well documented and defined for the execution team
- The plant as maintained is updated after outage
Qualifications/Requirements
- BS degree or above in a Mechanical or equivalent technical discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
- Minimum of 3 years of gas turbine, steam turbine and generator product knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to represent GE in customer communication & discussions
- Demonstrated ability to work with a crossfunctional team in a global environment
- Proven record of responsiveness in offering disposition to
various stakeholders (regional/global) including customer, service
managers, design/repair center of excellence
- Fluency in English, ability to communicate with local customers & suppliers
- A Minimum of 3 years of gas turbine, steam turbine and generator
product knowledge discharge or exemption certificate will be required
