Job Title: Data Analyst

Location: Abuja

Job Summary

  • The role reports to the Head, Strategy and Policy and will be responsible for the development and implementation of data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources across the bank and externally; maintaining relevant databases.
  • Interpret data, analyzing results using statistical techniques.
  • Transform data into information, information into insight to aid business decisions.
  • Explore and analyze market data trends and recommend solutions for creating more revenue and reducing loss.
  • Approve selection of tools, frameworks and mechanisms for data analytics.
  • Automation of Information Technology and business processes.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by the Head, Strategy and Policy.
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company's principal information assets.
  • Develop control structures to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels.
  • Ensure controls are in place over applications to ensure the data integrity by performing data integrity gap analysis.
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
  • In conjunction with the Information Technology, provide progress reports to Board management and oversee periodic updates to the Data Governance Roadmap.
  • Identify new business opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the marketplace / represent data as a strategic business asset at the Senior Management table.
  • Coordinate the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the Bank’s Management Committee and Information Technology.
  • Serve as a liaison between business, functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Develop and maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise.
  • Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.

Requirements

  • A First Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or in a related discipline.
  • Membership of a recognized professional qualification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills of written and verbal English.
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ experience. At least 3 years in the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of SQL and R programming language.
  • Knowledge of visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau etc.
