Job Title: Data Collector - Nigeria Digital Health Initiatives (NDHI)

Locations: Abuja (FCT), Bauchi, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kano, Plateau and Rivers
Employment Type: Contract
Duration of Assignment: 3 weeks (15 working days).

Job Description

  • We are partnering with Nigeria Digital Health Initiatives (NDHI) to carry out a comprehensive facility assessment across primary and tertiary health facilities in the seven (7) listed states.
  • The goal is to evaluate digital readiness to enhance the planning and implementation of digital health initiatives.
  • This project aims to strengthen Nigeria’s health system, focusing on improving service delivery, data management, and patient care through technology-driven solutions.

Job Summary

  • The Data Collector will be responsible for conducting detailed surveys, structured interviews, and observations at healthcare facilities to collect information on infrastructure, workflows, staffing, and digital readiness.
  • This role will engage with healthcare providers, administrators, and key stakeholders to ensure a holistic understanding of each facility’s operations, challenges, and opportunities.
  • The data collected will guide interventions, identify gaps, and support the facility assessments’ objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Data Collection:

  • Conduct surveys, structured interviews, and observations at healthcare facilities to gather information on infrastructure, workflows, workforce, and digital readiness.
  • Accurately record collected data using predefined digital tools and templates to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Ethical Compliance:

  • Adhere to ethical guidelines, including obtaining informed consent from participants when required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information collected during the assessment process.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with assessment teams and supervisors to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Provide regular updates and detailed field reports on assessment activities to supervisors.

Data Validation:

  • Verify and validate collected data by cross-checking with other references or stakeholders.
  • Ensure all data is complete, free of errors, and adheres to quality standards before submission.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Number of completed health facility assessments.
  • Daily reports on assessment activities.
  • Health facility assessment data quality.

Deliverables

  • Completion of at least 18 comprehensive health facility assessments.

Experience & Competencies
Education:

  • B.Sc / HND / National Diploma (ND) / National Certificate of Education (NCE).

Experience:

  • Previous experience in data collection, preferably in healthcare or public health projects.
  • Familiarity with conducting surveys, interviews, or field observations.
  • Experience working in diverse field environments and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare systems and facility operations is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of local communities in the state of assignment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word.
  • Proficient in using e-tools for data collection and surveys.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in local Indigenous languages (Yoruba, Pidgin, Igbo, Hausa) is an advantage for facilitating communication.
