Job Title: Managing Associate

Job Description
- We are looking to find a Managing Associate lawyer to join our Corporate Commercial Practice Group in our Lagos office. The role is seeking a lawyer with 7 to 10 years of energy industry related M&A corporate and commercial law experience. The successful candidate will have 7 to 10 years of experience gained at a respected law firm or within an in-house environment in Nigeria.

Qualifications

Job Title: Commercial Litigation Associate
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- Managing and providing legal support to the firm in relation to all matters with a diverse range of transactions in energy & natural resources, capital markets, banking and related matters.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Have oversight responsibility in handling of related litigation matters for the firm
- Ensure that client relationships are effectively managed
- Oversee compliance in respect of statutory filings of clients matters
- General corporate and commercial law practice
- Preparation and vetting of court processes
- Management of court cases
Qualifications
Person Specifications:
- Minimum of Second Class Upper Division from a recognised university and Nigeria Law School
- Articulate and creative
- Self motivated
- Must be keen to innovate and be successful at formulating and implementing strategies and plans.
- Excellent oral and writing skills
- Sound, effective and enthusiastic communicator.
- Previous experience in role would be an advantage.
- Versatile & Hardworking.
- Strong desire for research
- Ability to see through objections and provide plausible counter arguments
- Team player and leader
- Ability to take ownership of the role and work with minimum supervision.
- Minimum of 4 years post call experience from a reputable law firm in Lagos
- Specialized training in ADR related courses would be an advantage.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Negotiating, drafting and reviewing legal agreements and other documentation for the firm
- Conducting legal due diligence on counter-party to transactions involving the firm
- Researching legal issues relating to transactions
- Providing legal opinions on issues that may arise in connection with the transactions
- Providing general legal advice on transactions.
