Job Title: Credit Analyst

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Finance team’s purpose is to ensure that the business is financially sound and sustainable so that we can continue to provide our Distributed Energy Provider partners with the tools they need to scale their businesses, and ultimately our customers with a delightful energy experience. We are working to simplify clean energy access and increase the adoption of reliable, affordable, and innovative clean energy sources.
  • The Credit Analyst will evaluate the credit risk of businesses and individuals applying for payment plans with SunFi, by providing an independent credit review and risk assessment of applications.
  • The Credit Analyst will also be responsible for ensuring the SunFi portfolio maintains a low default rate by monitoring payments, delinquent and defaulting customers, monitoring trends in macroeconomic conditions and portfolio composition, and performing risk management of the growing portfolio of payment plans.
  • The Credit Analyst will also be expected to initiate and execute projects that improve SunFi’s existing processes and to innovate and add long-term value to the company and role. This position will work closely with the finance staff and other team members across the company to prepare presentations and reports that provide the Head of Finance and Executive Leadership with actionable insights on credit risk, trends, and risk management of the payment plan portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in business calls and/or customer meetings with external parties and prepare documentation on such meetings
  • Follow all SunFi policies, procedures, compliance, and security practices
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and add long-term value and take initiative to execute
  • Perform risk management of our processes and the payment plan portfolio
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned by Head of Finance and Executive Leadership
  • Collaborate with the technology teams and other teams to improve SunFi Technology and processes
  • Attendance in and value creation in meetings
  • Demonstrate consistent proficiency of the SunFi technology platform and processes
  • Manage insurance programs
  • Management and analysis of payment plan data
  • Cohort analysis for SunFi payment plans
  • Initiate and execute special projects
  • Complete all necessary department reports accurately and timely
  • Track and monitor relevant data points
  • Maintain databases with accurate and timely information
  • Analyze information and prepare payment plan analysis reports as assigned
  • Prepare new applications or renewal/extension of requested payment plans
  • Complete evaluation of collateral materials
  • Utilize financial software and other internal methods to analyze borrower information
  • Utilize tools from outside sources when conducting credit and industry analysis
  • Perform work following department work processes and ethics standards
  • Perform due diligence on existing files as needed

Qualifications

  • B.Sc / HND holder (in Accounting or related course)
  • 3+ years experience in credit risk or related analytical field
  • ICAN/ACCA/CFA optional
  • Proficient using computers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (emphasis on Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and modelling - ability to perform data analysis on large datasets ideal and build models
  • Advanced knowledge of Google suites and software.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and management potential
  • Strong technical expertise with loan tape or portfolio management software
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Effectively manages competing deadlines for projects and credit presentations, in a high-pressure work environment, with appropriate delegation
  • Exceptional analytical skills, detailed documentation and sound judgement
  • Actively ensures SunFi Values are incorporated and displayed within work environment, being a role model and mentor for others throughout SunFi
  • Demonstrates functional, technical and credit expertise with a high degree of due diligence and effectively transfers this knowledge to team members
  • Expert level understanding of payment plan policy and reporting needs
