Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Detail of Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the CEO/Chairman
  • The COO will provide leadership, management, and vision to ensure that the company delivers exceptional operational outcomes to meet agreed-upon growth objectives.
  • Champion the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of organizational management protocols, practices, and tools
  • Planning and execution: Developing and implementing strategies and processes to ensure growth, profitability, and efficiency
  • Budgeting: Working with the owner and other executives to create and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation
  • Create clarity of roles and full accountability for the performance of the business in terms of top-line growth and efficiency (earnings) that are sufficiently predictive to enable near real-time intervention into problem areas
  • Develop appropriate KPIs to measure and predict performance top-line growth, efficiency, etc.
  • Partner with the senior leadership team to evaluate the current strategies of the organization to ensure continued growth and success
  • Reporting: Preparing operational and management reports, and monitoring performance with tracking software
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with company, state, and federal regulations
  • Development of the company policies and procedures
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of each department (Operations, HR, Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Accounting).
  • Will also be participating in day-to-day operations of construction projects (depending on candidate's background)

Industry Experience:

  • Construction or Real Estate Law, Architecture, Engineering.
  • Residential construction services
  • Non-residential (commercial) construction

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field, an MBA or Master's is a plus.
  • 10 -15 + years of experience in an executive position in a construction or Real Estate Development background preferred (i.e. Construction or Real Estate Law, Architecture, Engineering).
  • Proven experience in managing construction projects
  • Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer or in a similar executive leadership role
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and business development skills
  • Strong understanding of financial management and budgeting.
  • The candidate must be able to work under high pressure and be a decision-maker.
  • Time Management and People Management skills are essential.
  • The candidate will have managed offices with many employees
