Job Title: Chemist

Location: Kama-Otto, Nasarawa
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Chemist is responsible for independently taking and making samples of ore, crushed stone, and workshop production samples.
  • This role involves conducting detailed chemical analyses to support mining operations and ensure the quality and composition of materials.
  • The ideal candidate will have a relevant chemical background with extensive experience in laboratory work.

Responsibilities

  • Independently collect samples of ore, crushed stone, and workshop production materials following established procedures.
  • Prepare samples for chemical analysis, including drying, grinding, and homogenizing as necessary.
  • Ensure proper documentation and labeling of all samples to maintain traceability and accuracy.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Manage inventory of chemicals and laboratory supplies, ordering replacements as needed.
  • Implement and follow quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results
  • Participate in proficiency testing and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies in test results promptly.
  • Perform chemical analyses on collected samples using various laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Analyze results to determine the composition, quality, and properties of the samples.
  • Interpret and report findings to support operational decisions and quality control.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.

Requirements

  • Relevant chemical background with a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and techniques for chemical analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and organizational abilities.
  • Extensive experience in laboratory work, including sample collection, preparation, and chemical analysis.
